Can anyone write a brief discription of all the ships included in the game?

Why? The in-game manual already has pretty good ship descriptions. Is there anything in particular you would like to know?

In case you don't have the game, but are wondering, there are 6 ship classes.

Snow - tiny, weak ship good for raiding villages for captives and scouting.
Schooner - small, short-range and relatively weak, but the fastest ship in the game.
Sloop - pretty powerful short-range ship.
Brigantine - weaker than Sloop, but stronger than Schooner, this ship is liked by many for its decent speed and long range.
Frigate - a large, powerful warship that still has a hope of catching most enemies.
Galleon - vastly more powerful than any other ship in the game, but so slow that it can hardly catch anything besides other Galleons.

Not true, the galleon can catch almost anything. It all depends on the Captain and the skill of the crew. Try it and be amazed...

Tropico 3 - YES!

Frankly, I think the Galleon is not that good. I always send it on raids and it always gets caught. I have good success with schooners, brigatines, and sometimes frigates...
