So sorry Señor, but it appears there are goat-spirits posessing your GM2 file.

Okay, according to PopTop, parents will pass their genetic traits down to the children. Two smart parents should have smarter (and faster learning) children, while brave parents with high leadership might just spawn your political nemesis.

Now for the politically incorrect part ... has anybody ever tried a genocidal approach to leadership? Theoretically, if you act early in your campaign to eliminate the stupid plus the natural leaders, you should end up with a relatively intelligent (therefore highly skilled and productive) populace but fewer strong political opponents. a fifty-year time span should also allow enough time to have the people mostly forget about "that most unfortunate decade ... oh but el Presidente was so much younger then."

Has anyone tried this?

Goatboy, I have been doing a  very limited version of this for a few months, when finding Militarist families. It allows me to staff the army very effectively by providing these families with better services, thus I find they try for a bigger family. By ensuring those of less desirable factions live in shacks there seems to be a reduced desire to have children. Whether this is coincidence or not I have not been able to tell.Smiley

Your idea of actually following a genocidal route adds a more brutal twist, and one I shall be sure to try out. It will certainly stretch the limits of Tropico and allow us to determine how important the genetics are of the parents.

I'll report my findings as soon as I have played a thorough game.

that would make a heck of an AAR.  especially if you attempted to eliminate a faction altogether....

"we don't like communists around here...."

or perhaps the start of the all-powerful church state?

hmmmm

Ive done that...
about 80yrs into the game i had Created a Island of 90% Communists, 90% Geniuses, 90% High courage/low leadership, and elections were so lopsided (for me) it was like 250 vs 12  Grin

I did it by oppresing my non-supporters, then forcing them off the island by putting imigration on "love it or leave it". The final push was when I built about 10 Jails, Filled them to the brim, then let them out... after this my Island was unbeleivably pro-Presidente Cool My perfect race however needs constant immigrant butchering to keep it clean...Shocked

America hates me with a burning passion, Russia and me... well lets just say I now feel that moscow is my capital  Grin

My millitary is so big that everyone has a relative in it so no ones unhappy (either that or im giving them WAY to much liberty) My people love me so much I use "early Election" all the time just to keep my people happy and give them a high liberty rating. My island is mostly communist and Russia loves me (read above) so how do I keep it ballanced? I use "pro-Russian policies" and all the pro Commie propaganda things...

I always play on open ended and its somwere in 2060 (yes, I have Alot of patience, probably to much  Embarrassed ) and I have about 3 Million bucks, 512 people, and most people are payed 35-50$ all live in Mansions/country houses/basic houses (college educated, highschool educated, and uneducated (the minority on my Island beleive it or not!) respectively)

My island lives off Jewlry, and farm products (some canned, some cigars) I have a very small tourist area on a obscure beach (1 luxury motel, 1 beach site, and 1 scenic outlook)

I would be playing it right now if my CD tray wasn't broke  Angry Cry :-/ Angry

Going to try this. I'm gonna try to eliminate fractions. Namely the religious. Tired of their constant whining for a church and trying to limit my education process.

Eugenics Strategy

Okay, according to PopTop, parents will pass their genetic traits down to the children.  ...  has anybody ever tried a genocidal approach to leadership? ...

Firstly, I believe that PopTop indicated that it was not just "genetic" traits, but rather all characteristics.
  • Intelligence
  • Courage
  • Leadership
  • Faction Support Levels
    • Note: Every individual has a 1 through 100 rating for all factions; they are divided into quartiles.
    • Only the top three quartiles show up with '+s'.
    • The bottom quartile is listed as "Detractors."
  • Weight on the ten Happiness Factors
    • Note: Each individual's ten happiness factors are weighted from one to ten.
    • The weight is visible by the shading of the text.
  • Perhaps, the three favorite entertainment types?

Many players (led by MrP) have tried to control Leadership for the army and\or Courage otherwise by killing off people. It is very time consuming micro management which has to be done mostly in pause mode.

I've done that --  about 80yrs into the game I had Created a Island of 90% Communists, 90% Geniuses, 90% High courage/low leadership, and ... I did it by oppresing my non-supporters, then forcing them off the island by putting imigration on "love it or leave it". ... My perfect race however needs constant immigrant butchering to keep it clean  ...  I always play on open ended and it's somewere in 2060 and I have about 3 Million bucks, 512 people, and most people are payed 35-50$ all live in Mansions/country houses/basic houses (college educated, highschool educated, and uneducated (the minority on my Island beleive it or not!) respectively) ...

I don't think an unlimited time period game is a fair test of a Eugenics Strategy. My personal opinion is that it should be limited to a normal length game - 70 years, ending in 2020. A Tropican generation is ~ 14 years; so 70 years allows about five generations. What can you accomplish in that time frame?

If you rely on immigrants to grow your population, you are not really testing how much parents pass on are you?

Going to try this. I'm gonna try to eliminate fractions. Namely the religious. Tired of their constant whining for a church and trying to limit my education process.

EdMcK no doubt was completely frustrated. PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO "ELIMINATE" ONE OR ALL FACTIONS!
