Yeah, it seems they did cut or change a number of buildings before releasing the end-product.  Wink

hmmm   yah could be ... But i find another strange building. It's the one in the 3. Pic between the Statue and the Cabarett  ...

The "could be HS" also appears in #3 between the Luxury House and the Police Station -- which may have started as something else.

The light tan factory building was either a factory for a product not included or an alternative for the cigar factory.

How about the lower right building? It's so tiny I can begin to guess.

Somewhere there is an early shot with a lovely Greek Temple pillar facade building which would make a much better university that what was included.

Notice how the one and one-half story Cafe towers over the full two story Luxury House.

In #4 in the center, the lovely & colorful portable market cart certainly puts to shame the dreary market shack Haemimont has come out with.

Why didn't all these preliminary "drafts" get included? It was a different computer age when T1 was published. The typical PC was limited in capacity and processing speed. The art coding took more time. It's like you are doing an archaeological dig and wondering why some of those beautiful dinosaurs didn't survive.

... BUT greek temples in caribic room [Caribbean zone]? ...

Gee Whiz! Do I have to run a class in architecture?

What I was trying hard to describe was/is the simplistic copy of Greek Columns on the "face" of monumental buildings built all over Europe and America in the 19th and 20th centuries. Bank buildings famous for it. Government buildings are even more famous for it.

It was called the "Greek Revival" style. A Tropican University would most likely be housed in a single building of some traditional architectural style than in a far-flung campus "building" into which the Professors and Students disappeared -- never to be seen walking about "on campus" or making up a crowd "on campus" to protest.

Do you classify the Brandenburg Gate as Greek or Roman?

why it is:  Vill  Velcome   Ve ...

During WWII - the Battle of the Bulge - when the Germans used English speakers in US uniforms, the Americans could detect that the Germans prononunced the "w" consistently as a "v" even though they had the rest of the language very well learned.

So even today when Americans wish to burlesque an "authoritarian" German, the "v" in lieu of the "w" is used. A great joke to some Americans (I admit the failing myself) is a German woman saying, "Ja and you vill injoy it!" And you can fill in the blank about what is to be enjoyed.

Please remember that I said it was a bit of fun; and look up burlesque.
