I must make more scenerios!! Bwahahahahah!!!!!!

Ive been working on a new scenerio with a high middle and terraced hills, so it looks kind of like a pyramid.  My original map (which I scrapped last night) had some pathing problems. The workers up near the top of the pyramid would sometimes run fullspeed down the slope to the beach, and there they would get stuck. They would spend the next few years walking back and forth  and around the beach until they finally died. Occasionally, one would find his way back, but most stayed on the beach. One construction worker walked back and forth on the beach with his destination arrow on his shack, which was on the first terrace up, close to where he was pacing. Finally he gave up and walked straight off the end of the island and out into the ocean. When he reached the edge of the map, he disappeared for a week or two and then reappeared one gridsquare from the edge of the map. Standing on this spot, he started working on a building, which was all the way across the map, at the top of the pyramid. I noticed that if I built houses on the beach, it was more likely that others would walk out onto the water too....

Finally I gave up and scrapped this island and started with one I drew in Paintshop and imported into the editor. This new one was not quite as high and had large enough steps to build on. So far, I have had no strange pathing... But now I need to adjust the economy, because it is too easy. I guess the pathing problem was alot worse than it looked and took so much away from efficiency that it crippled the economy.

For Pete's sake give it a rest. I can't cope.  It's winter in Oz - post it there only!

Don't listen Brf... keep it up.   It is the scripters, like you and Dave, that are keeping Tropico alive.   There is some very neat scripting, in Dave's HistNic, that would be dy-no-mite in other scenarios.

Yes!!! I must make mooooooooorrrrreeeeee sceneriossss....Bwaahahahahahhaaaaaa....... Grin Grin

Here is a taste of my next one...I dreamed up the basic concept while I was playing a random game.... The storyline will be whimsical, but, unlike Super Dude, it will actually be playable and challenging.

Heh....I got the events of this new one working right....and played it once as if I didnt know what was going to happen.... I was at 97% of the win and thinking it was going to be too easy, when they suddenly voted me out! Ack!!!!! I see I am going to have to run a few more tests to make sure this one's difficulty level is right.
Hey.....did anyone notice the cool 4-leafer shape and Irish names?

I opine that Brf and Junta_Joe never captured the link between the map generator and the game engine which defined the land surface. From all of their descriptions and frustrations, it seems that they never grasped that the map editor tools were not fully documented, and did things which broke the links with the game engine.

That's a shame. They - especially Junta_Joe - just tried to bully their way through since they knew it all.

Use the map editor tools "gently" to make some adjustments to a generated map. Otherwise, draw a grayscale map and import it to the map generator. I opine you will have better luck.
