Avatar Profile

When the player has made his choices, the game establishes a "profile" for that name\character and starts accumulating "achievements" which trigger one of four advanced levels in each of the "traits" (apparently a new profile starts at the zero level). I'm sorry that I am not familiar with this game device which seems to be very popular with and familiar to most other players. I have to guess that it is an artifice commonally used in "first person shooters." I see something like that in Sid Meyer's Pirates.
