When ever I click on the Highscore Book it just takes me back to the previous menu.
Any ideas on what's going wrong?

What were you expecting?

Let me rephrase then.

I go to Extras, then click on Highscores. It takes me to the book and Without me doing anything it just takes me back to the extras menu in 2 seconds.

That puts it in a different light.

Going back to the Extras Menu immediately after loading without any input at all does seem to be a glitch.

The way mine works: a right mouse click has no effect of any kind; a left mouse click anywhere on the screen causes a return; strokes on an assortment1 of single keys cause a return. The screen does not seem to time out.

My speculation: something in your system produces a signal that the program recognizes as a left mouse click or a key stroke. It does so probably in response to the screen's finishing the load of a new image. A mouse/pointer enhancement program may produce something like that; I don't know.

1 : I did not test every key on my keyboard.

So far as I can recall, the only way to skip the into. trip down the capital's main street is to hit the "escape" key.

I suspect that something you (or a security breach visitor) added during those few months is generating something like the "escape key" does.

I suggest two steps:
>> Look to your security and get a very thorough scan for spy-ware and other varmits.
>> Think carefully about any software you added during that period and have running in the background while you play Tropico. Try shutting off as many of all the background programs as possible.

Good Luck.

Going to do a virus scan.
Let's see the only things I remember installing were Sim City 2000 (Downloaded from net Shocked) and some userbar genrator.
(I have got to keep my dad from messing with my laptop Roll Eyes)

some userbar genrator

Those things are deadly!

 ShockedRoll Eyes Undecided

What does it generate and can you shut it off?

It almost certainly runs perpetually in the background and tinkers with all your games.

"Userbar" = as you wish to believe say.

They were cookies only? I scan every three or four days, and usually come up with several "spyware" items masquerading as innocent "cookies".

Not all virus scans are equal, but I am not going into that.

1. I'm going to assume that you have no idea what a userbar is (Prove me wrong then)?

2. Well what ever they were I deleted them.

I'll check into it later when I'm on my laptop.

Not exactly no idea at all; however, I have never downloaded one. I rarely download a program.

I associate the word "user bar" with the generic term "tool bar" with which IE come equipped -- and which various sofeware peddlars will gift you with. For example, Google offers a free one. Some of these carry along all kinds of spy-ware including the kind that reports back your key strokes and comprises your privacy (if you have any left).

Now if it's something completely different, I certainly would appreciate a description.

Well, I found this description on Wilipedia, a small rectangular picture with which users use to in their signatures in the internet forums, which indicates about their personality or hobbies.

I would call that an avatar. If it's animated, it probably uses Java Script -- which can harbor hidden stuff.

1. Yes that's what a userbar is.

2. The ones I made were not animated.

Did the Virus scan, nothing different happened, will keep my laptop away from the net to be sure.

Sorry I was hard on "userbars" without knowing enough about them.

 Embarrassed

Another thing I had meant to mention but forgot about is utility programs to change the mouse pointer.

It seems they can create problems with some game programs. This came up on a Kalypso forum - Grand Ages: Rome. A parent was having a problem with the game's running on his young person's PC. The last I looked, the train of thought was that a pointer program was the likely cause.
