My game crashes constantly, Im running a T-bird 1.2Ghz i got 256 for memory and a geforce 2, you'd think I might be ok. Oh well i read a lot of stuff in this thread and I'm off to test it out

I am getting so upset... I can't even get the game to start.  I have Win XP.  I have a GeForce4 mx440, running an Athlon XP 2000+ Processor.  All my drivers are updated & current Direct X.  I'm about to scream.  Oh yah, I've downloaded patches and I love this game!!!! GRRR!!!  I know I sound like I can't talk but I've been at this for 4 bloody strainous hours!!! GRRRR!!!
Is there ANY links or sites or anything anybody can give to help or try before I pick up the phone and call the long distance Tech Support and friggen give em what for?!?!?!?!?!?!

I know I've fired up a thread that is a year and one-half old, but that's what happens when your stuck I guess.

Well, I successfully installed the game.  There's 2 ways of starting the game:
1) I open the cd drive and close it again.  When the menu pops up I click on 'play'.  Screen goes black and the desktop comes back on.  When ever I click the game on the taskbar the screen will go black & then to the Desktop again.  I have to go to the Task Manager to close it manually.
2) I click to start the game from my Start Menu.  Screen goes black and then it returns to the desktop.  And same as before: When ever I click the game on the taskbar the screen will go black & then to the Desktop again.  I have to go to the Task Manager to close it manually.
I've just Fdisk'ed my PC (Custom built) so there's no programs on it that should be conflicting.  I've ran Msconfig to prevent programs from running unnecessarily in the background apon boot up.  I've dumpped *.tmp files and ran Defrag & Err checking (Scandisk for Win XP) & Disk Cleanup.

I'm trying to play Tropico (original).  Where do you find the Version?

I'm not trying to play with an Expansion Pack just the original game itself.

I've tried the only patch I could find and that's the latest one at God Games website. (www.godgames.com).
It's the Tropico Update v1.07.

I never had one but try doing a scan-disk and a defrag. If you have it run an anti virus program. You could put your saved gameg on a disk then re-install tropico with patches (or if CTD hapened after that than don't install patches).  Also try keeping a record of crashes and mabey you'll find the thing that sets it of.
