My old job wasn't suitable for someone of my social class.

I ran into a weird situation in a recent game.  I had a relatively new sector out by my airport, and one of my buildings came under rebel attack and got destroyed.  Oh, well, I didn't get too upset about it, since I figured I could rebuild it pretty quickly (a Bank or Police Station, as I recall.)  I put down another building on the rubble of the old, and set it for high priority for the nearby Construction workers.

Then, for years, nothing at all happened for construction in that whole *area* - no new police station, no start on my new Luxury Hotel, nothing.  At first, I figured the workers were somehow gettting distracted by important construction in "Old Town," but even after all construction was finished there, nothing was happening in "New Town."  I tried building new construction offices, fiddling with priority levels, and everything else I could think of, but nothing worked.

Then, unable to think of anything else, I cancelled construction of the "replacement" building.  Suddenly, my construction guys were back in action, building like mad.

I can't figure out what caused the problem, because I'd done something similar before (rebuilding over the rubble) with no trouble.

I had the same problem. OK, i didn't notice that the construction workers stopped building other buildings too, but it had to cancel the construction of a new farm which i built on a distroyed one. I had to wait till the destroyed old farm was completely removed.

You can usually start building as soon as they start cleaning up the old rubble.
