I can try to answer, but first about those excuses...

If you don't want someone to worry, then don't tell them you're going to jump! Just tell them you're going camping for the weekend and camp at the dropzone. And take your girlfriend with you. Skydiving is a sport in which men and women can participate as equals.

As for dangerous... In the US more people die each year snow skiing than parachuting. More people die each year scuba diving than skydiving. And the most dangerous thing that most skydivers do is drive to the airport!
And now, what's it like... Imagine every moment of anticipation you've ever experienced, add in every moment of anxiety you've ever had, top it off with every adrenaline rush you've ever felt. Put all that together and imagine what that would feel like....Now you're ready to get into the plane.

If you're still able to get out at altitude then you can know what it's like.

You could read Eating DIrt and maybe get a bit of a feeling of what it's like. I'll try to find my first After Jump Report. Then I can either find space to put it back on the web, or take out the graphics and email you the text.
