Galactically appointed Rum specialist. And self appointed beer snob.

« on: 12/05/01 at 10:06 PM »

I had no idea you could make this happen but I had every single citizen in a revolt.
I started a fairly innocent game using timber as my preliminary income.
When I had enough cash I built a power plant and then a rum distillery as I wanted a base economy from rum.
Well the rum wasnt producing very well as I had a lack of rain issue for my sugar cane so I built two gold mines.
The mines were too far away from everything so I tried to build a new dock, teamsters and housing near the gold mine. One mine had an output store of over 25 but it wasnt getting to the dock.
My economy started to slip into the neagative and I knew I was screwed.
So instead of quitting, I fired everyone and maxed out all their rents.
I checked the almanac and I had 4 contented citizens, they were infants....Ha!
This really made them mad and I got an announcement that there would be a mass revolt.
Now every citizen is a fire head, and they are grunting and throwing DIRT at my palace.
LOL.....my palace is taking damage from DIRT!
Never heard them grunt before.
Well, I let it pan out that way until I was in the rowboat.
Too funny.

Great job Rum_Chugger, we need more uprising in Tropico. Smiley

Neutron Bomb, it is not just Soldiers that help during an uprising, but also Policemen. This is when you will see them whip out their pistol and start shooting at the nearest revolting(!) Tropican.

Hopefully, if you have treated your Soldiers and Policemen well, you should expect to see a virtual slaughter. Just think, Tropicans with rocks -vs- Soldiers with rifles and Policemen with guns. They really don't stand a chance.

As for your population, you'll tend to find that as numbers of supporters of one of the two key groups drops off, the remainder will go into hiding. Although if you don't have at least a 25% drop in population I would be very suprised. My owen experience has show between a 35-40% drop.

It really is worth checking out the Alamanac after the uprising is crushed (you did crush it right?) - your population figures (births, marriages etc) - as you will get a real idea as to how many died. It will hit home with your economy in the following 3-5 years, given the lack of workers so be prepared. Smiley

It all started when I re-ordained the Tropicans state-approved religion to that of the 3 Cafe Tropico Deities. Somehow they seemed happier worshipping me.  Wink

soldiers are easy to satisfy... a little reeducation at ´St Eddys Correction Facility for Disaffected Soldier´ (including such diverse activities as patriotic recitals, torture, brainwashing and drug dispersal) can work wonders.

If you chose "Installed by KGB" like i do every time, then you only have to pay your troops 6 or 7 dollars, cause they dont have to got to highschool.  Therefore, in an uprising, they could be very convieneint.  Besides, if they dont like their jobs, i fire them and wait for better ones to be safe from a coup.

oh, and my troops ALWAYS obey my orders, and its tough to get into my military, all the disatisfied ones are either fired, like i said, or if its really bad, re educated.  I support the military chairman as my main advisor, plus them communists cause they're the only ones who dont complain.  Everyone else gets jailed with the unhappy soldiers.
