INITIALLY, the child support was 51.6% of my pre-tax income. I no longer pay child support, that ended last summer.
Now for your answers, Eddy --
1)I always do the 1040A for the deductions.
2)My condo is mortgaged to almost 140% of value.
3)I haven't taken any classes in over 15 years. I can't
find a reason to take them, and don't have the time.
4)Yes, I give to charity. My charitable deductions are
two or three times the amount of my mortgage deduction.
5)Other than the government Thrift Savings Plan, I don't
contribute to a savings plan. I wish I could afford to.
6)No stocks or bonds, and no money to buy them with.
7)As far as changing my W4, I have opted out of that. When
I filled it out, I had a wife and six children. The IRS
have told me that it is perfectly legal to not change it,
since it was correct at the time it was signed. That way,
the government doesn't get to use my money free of charge
until they issue a refund.
8)This is my tax situation every year, because I haven't
changed my W4 since the divorce. The federal government
withholds taxes as if I had eight deductions, and simply
expects me to make up the difference each year. That's
been going on for over ten years. My state withholdings
have been adjusted, and results in a small refund each
year. I would rather owe the government than have them
owe me! But I wouldn't mind owing them less!
