Bosnia is doing better as far as political stability is concerned, but economy is getting worse every day. Seems like our politicians have "'Tis money that makes the man" set as their victory goal. It would be OK if we had one El Presidente who's favorite hobby is swiss banking, but three prime ministers and hundreeds of politicans are just too much. Heck, they'd drain US' economy in less than a year! Our teachers are in strike because they didn't get any wages since August (and in August they got wages from January). It's even worse for retirees coz they should be getting 75$ per month, but they don't get it. Tropico has better economy than Bosnia (and that's Tropico with World Bank's restrictions). That's why I'm commie: situation was much better before they war when we lived in communist Yugoslavia (sure, we didn't have as much freedom but at least people weren't starving). I probably wouldn't have PC, let alone Internet acces, if 4 members of my 5-member family weren't working.

DJ, I must commend you on keeping your sense of humor... in a time of great hardship. The line about Bosnia in your sig, cracked me up. Unfortunately, Bosnia does not a an exclusive on greedy politicians and/or factions. The three-way split in your country, just make's it possible to have a lot more of them.
I hope the New Year brings an improvement to conditions, within Bosnia and to your family.

DJ, do you parents have any stories of what it was like to live under Tito?

I'd start my own company here, but I don't know any programmers. And no, I can't program (except for a pathetic few lines that I wrote in basic). But I can do (lame) graphics: Fortunatly, my family doesen't have any particulary bad stories from Tito's time. The worst thing that happened to us was that our land was confiscated. As a matter of fact, Tito was a very good president at times. He changed his political mood often, so sometimes he allowed press to write VERY negatively about him, and sometimes he was quite opressive. He would be the best ruler in history of Bosnia if he was in the liberal mood all the time. BTW, he also (supposedly) made Yugoslavia the 7th military force in the world.

Hey Dj. Is Bosnia a part of the EU? If not, have Bosnia ever been "offered" to become a part of the EU?
If no to both questions: That's what the european union does; it only makes the richest richer. They only want the most developed countires in europe to become a part of the european union. Those poor nations will just have to sit on the sideline and watch the big leagues play.
Very very sad in deed. Capitalism at it's worst. I've said it before and i say it again; thank god Norway declined to become a part of the EU!
What does Bosnia get their money from? farming?? I don't have a clue. Dj?
One time it said in a book that the u.s gets their money from corn farming. Lol! That was all it said; "corn farming". It didn't even mention that you export tons and do not import alot since it's not necesarry in such a large country. Exports: Electrical produce, (high polluting) cars, boats, steel, clothing, and crops and corn(?). El_malo -is this correct?

Evenin!
First, my 'profile' if you will...
Capitalists +++ Intellectuals +++ Militarists + Religious + Environmentalists + Communists ---
(I hate this font...)
Yes, have the free flow of information, goods and people all over! A strong economy is a goot economy! The more educated the people are, the less likely you can pull the wool over their eyes. Have a decent enough military to repel foreign invasion, but not so big that it IS the foreign invasion. My temples are baseball stadia, but people like going to church, so have those about, and make sure that I don't get rained on with drops with a Ph level around 2.0. And 'From each according to their ability, to each according to their need' is pure hokum. Taxation is theft by well dressed gov't agents.
As far as the exports of the US, it's been said that the state of Iowa produces enough food to feed the entire United States.
What they don't say is that the diet would consist entirely of pork products and soybeans...
I'm sure a diet of canned Spam wouldn't be too bad, as long as I had a supply of crackers and Tabasco sauce...
Happy Happy!

Ok just for fun. If you were a Tropican what factions would you be in and how devoted would you be? Use your own personality to figure it out. Use the little plus symbols as they do in Tropico to convey your feelings towards the Tropican factions. You (unmentionable), you. It is not "just for fun" when dozens of posters decide they have to exhibit their feelings about every faction in their signature --- as they have done on the Kalypso forum with Haemimont's expanded list of idiot, meaningless factions. Their signatures are longer than the body of their posts.
PopTop should have used this concept for the "roll-up" of the Dictator Character instead of the "Positive Traits & Flaws." Simply require the player to denominate his\her relationship with each of the six factions from a ration of four each of plus and minus symbols and allowing only one type of up to three for each faction, each must have one and all eight must be used. That would define the limit of the player's relationship with each of the factions per: each plus would delete a bottom level and each minus would delete a top level. That should be simple coding.

Intellectuals+++ Communists+ Environmentalists+ Capitalists- Religious-- Militarists-- I wouldn't really be a Communist, more of a Socialist, if the game allowed that faction. Being in Canada, I kind of adopt most of the Canadian values - we don't like a large military, but we like clean air & water and our education. Some of us are quite religious so my faction wouldn't be typical in that regard.
