As you have so eloquently stated the facts, Chris, I can only heartily agree.
As if this isn't mind boggling enough in and of itself, I am left wondering why there is a need for three moderators in an off topic area. Wouldn't one do just as well?
I guess with three moderators, should a group of us stray too closely to a particular subject it will be easier for them to lead us away like gaggles of geese. Three gaggles simultaneously so lead would indeed be organized confusion.
Probably the whole idea.

Now, Chris. Just lay back on the nice couch. I'll help you. You must calm down. You are not actually on topic unless you make three consecutive posts that have relevence to the title of the thread. You have never approached that condition.
The reason there are three moderators for the Arena is quite simple. CafeDave is a moderator of all parts of this board. That is to allow him administrator privileges over all posts. The Arena was expected to be the largest forum on the board. This was based on the fact that almost nothing was "on topic" before April. The Arena was expected to need the most attention. But since he has better things to do than follow the mess we make here, he asked for a couple of moderators to cover this area. As it turns out, we got off easy!

OK I was just in a joking mood and I was being silly. I wasn't making fun of the board. It is a hard job running one and seemingly thankless. Don't you guys let that fool you though. You are making a lot of people happy, who couldn't possibly express it properly (you might need another area just for that). I used to run one myself years ago. I was poking fun at the logical problem of posting in an off topic area without posting something relevant to a topic. I only mentioned the moderators in fun, not intending to sound critical. I do have a number of completely on-topic posts elsewhere on the board. There are also a number of posts where I am equally as silly as I have been here. No offense intended. |

But that's what makes this so fun. Dave does the work of operating the board. As moderator of the Arena, I feel obliged to read every post in the Arena. That's the fun part. I get lots of laughs from the posts in this off Topic area.
As far as the on topic posts, I have to admit that I gave up on trying to keep up with them. I rarely read other forums any more. :-/

If I were supreme moderator, I'd edit all POOOOOOOSTS to make it increase my post count and only my post count. In fact, I'd add posts randomly to my post count just for logging in.
