I am writing this from my laptop.  Communications lines are still down, however, an active line has been hooked up to the capital building here in Añejo City, so I hope this message gets out.

An aftershock struck the island this morning, and several buildings that has sustained damage during the major quake have now collapsed.  The 35-story tower at the Emerald Isle Resort crumbled during the aftershock, but there was no one at the hotel at the time so no injuries have been reported.

We fear that the situation on the island is worsening, and fires which were believed to be under control are now spreading towards the sugar cane plantations on the western shore.  The National Guard and Red Cross have stationed themeselves in the heart of the city, but their resources are becoming depleted quickly.

The earth is shaking again, I'm sending this before we lose the phone...

Brian,

I hope this message finds you OK.  As I stated earlier, I have instructed my staff at Web Enterprises to place our resources at your disposal.  Please let us know what we can do to help.  We have $5M in liquid assets, and can make these funds available immediately.  We have the resources, and you have detailed information on the needs.

Your friend,
Caddet

oh there you are. As you can see i am Major-General George Potlas of the Tropican State Security, Army Branch.

I have the following information and goods for you.
The Chairman sends his regards and wishes to put at your disposal a bunker on the island of Tina, under your command. It has all the facilities you could possibly need and has a large spacious bed for Cram and his 'secretary'.
And since the island of Tina, is safe from attack, due to it having the best protection money can buy, it is the perfect place for you to set up operations.
More information to follow if you decide to accept the offer.

This is also open to other members of the Cabinet if they feel it necessary to relocate.

Earlier, I had posted the following:
Quote
We notice that a move is afoot to oust the journalist in this week's survivor voting.  We will take this as an opportunity to demonstrate the far-reaching influence of Web Enterprises.  Dictators and others take notice.  Web Enterprises has targeted the Female Rebel for this week's voting.

I now have this response, as posted in the Immunity Challenge # 9 thread in the Cafe Tropico:

I know you can't see me, but I am bowing

to the superiority of Poptop Brent.

But I do have one appropriate picture.

Here's me, with egg on my face!

(Sorry the picture is so bad, but I had to

enlarge a really small image to get this.

And he deserves an immediate response,

so I didn't take time to get a better picture.)

Friends -

The island of Puerto Añejo is in ruins.  The once glorious Añejo City is now a ghost town, with the gutted out skeletons of it's buildings staring sadly at the cold moon, which casts the only light on our now powerless island.  Emergency generators provide the only power, and have been limited to the hospital and government buildings... and government buildings are only permitted to operate the generators for one hour each evening.

I am leaving tomorrow for an emergency meeting with the United Nations in the hopes of seeking aid towards rebuilding Puerto Añejo.  I believe that this task is going to be a long and difficult process, but I know that my people are up to the challenge.  I am going to suggest to the UN that they recruit a staff of potential developers, to create a new layout for the island, complete with agriculture, industry, and tourism, in the hopes of returning Puerto Añejo to it's former glory... and perhaps even surpassing it.

Without the benefit of electricity and with all the islands resources being devoted to relief efforts, I don't forsee the rebuilding starting for at least a few weeks.  Once it does, I would suggest that anyone interested in the "Rebuild Puerto Añejo" challenge should contact me.  I will present you with the details when the time is right.

For now, the island sleeps in darkness.  I pray for the day when our island shines like the jewel of the Caribbean it once was.  I must go, I hope this finds you all doing well.

Sincerely,
Brian
D.O.E.G.
Puerto Añejo
