Hello everyone! People 'round these parts call me Cosmo. Seeing these boards again brings back a lot of fond memories. I can feel a tear running down my cheek. No wait, that's a spider... AAAAAUUGH!!!!!!!! *whew* Ok. Now although I have a rather fresh appearance, I assure you I have been around these parts lo-o-ong before Tropico was sitting on the shelves of any store. And it was under this screen name too. Its just that I never posted much, despite my close following to these boards. Anywhoo, I was reading these boards every day it seemed, from probably Tropico's *first* release date, to a little while after its REAL release date. And what a fun, nail-biting, hair-pulling, tension-filled 4 or 5 months that was. Or was it 6 months. Bah, who cares. The point is Tropico finally came, and I bought the first copy that came out of the box of the local Software Etc. I had so much fun creating fun, power-addicted stories for myself, like driving my citizens well past their limits, and then watching them making a run for the docks while my soldiers(or on a good day, police ) chase them down. Like I said earlier, I would come here and read everyones experiences and sometimes share my own(not very often on the latter, seeing as how I never made it past tourist!). And then school ended, and sadly, I lost my free internet access for the summer. Though I now stopped frequenting these boards, I did keep Tropico as my #1 game. Well, #2 now; lousy Arcanum! Then school started again, I got my daily internet access again. One day,(today, actually) I decided to check out PopTop's site, to see if anything interesting had come out, since the patch and map editor. ::Jaw-Drop:: Expansion Pack? ::Sommer-Sault:: Ok, anyway, needless to say, I am quite pleased. But, lo and behold, a January release date??? *sigh* So its another wait for Treasure Island. But oh well. So to sum up a long story, do you oldtimers mind if this prodigal poster returns to his favorite Carribean Cafe? You know, the biggest thing I liked about this boards were that, besides being the funniest reading on the Net, they always remained mature and totally friendly. I recognize a few names here, but most are new. And its awesome to see ladies posting here as Tropico vets! In my day, this place seemed like a dudes-only kinda joint. Lets see... I remember some really great posters, like eddyatwork, Brian, PopTopDave, Mr. P, Dravin, and also Kendalh(sp?). And most likely others that slip my mind at the moment. I also remember some great moments in history, like when Brian was a dictator and had something like 990 posts, and wouldn't ever post, and eddy did everything he could to get him to post to see what came after Dictator. Tropico Survivor was a hoot! who won that anyway? Also, I remember, after the game came out, when Brian claimed to have seen a tarantula crawing in a Banana Grove, and everyone started giving him hard time about it, and making fun of his arachnophobia, until someone actually posted a screenshot of one of the little buggers and Brian was finally vindicated. And then there was also eddy's mind-boggling obsession with Bertha, the LC Tourist!.

Welcome back mr Cosmo. You sure have missed a lot. Bertha won the Tropico 2001 Summer Pageant, beautiful woman, Eddy and Robbo are Deities! Brian became a guest, PopTopDave has recently posted, Mr P's still here - mad on tanks. I also was honored in the Tropico Pageant .

Welcome Home! I know for sure we have never met as I'm a newbie. However, there is always room at the Cafe for returning sons, as well as newly sworn touristas. Post and be merry...

Sigh.

Welcome back, Cosmo. Much has changed in these lands. Except Eddy. He's a diety now, but in a way, wasnt he always? Mr.P and Eddy are the only ones you mentioned who are still around. There are about...eight(?) emperors now, and two dieties.

Wow! Thank you everyone for the grand reception. Just looking over the different threads here, I see that I missed SO much. And its great to see those familiar names, as well as all you new wonderful dictators! Yet it is a bit of a culture shock. So Brian left? Why? Was he finally whisked away to Dictator's Heaven on a fiery chariot? *sigh* I will miss him. So, once again, thanks to everyone. If I could make a request, could you direct me to any vital information thats been revealed over the last 5 or so months? It would really help me get back into the swing of things around here. Also, please forgive me if I ask a question or bring up any topic thats been beaten to death around here. You have to understand, I feel a bit like a proverbial Mr. Burns - a living, breathing relic that is living a century in the past. But Mr. Burns did have one great Tropico-ish moment while addressing his nuclear plant employees: "Compadres, it is imperitave that we crush the freedom fighters by the start of the rainy season. And remember; a shiny new donkey for the one who brings me the head of Colonol Montoya!"

Hmm, ok, I became a deity.
Robbo became a deity much later.
Errmmm, I've started a ceremony to celebrate new rebels involving "The Journey of a Thousand Steps" which basically is me paddling them.
There's a bunch of hot chix on the board.
Oh, and there is an expansion pack in the works.

Welcome back, Cosmo. I was a non-posting guest when you were here often so I remember you, vaguly. Mr. P said quiet rightly that the expansion pack will create excitment/speculation just as the original did so you came back just in time. As to introduce myself I'm future(as in 7 posts away) Generalissimo Pinochet.

Talk about a small world...
I've lived in Omaha for the past dozen years...
(Well, the past couple years, it's been more of a home base for my wanderings, but my drivers license and my car is titled there. Don't get me started on THAT...)
Some good friends of mine live near 35th and Center...
