Im deiciding to get a new game... while scanning reviews, me want your opinions of choice games.

Canidates:

Operation Flashpoint(I heard a quality game in single player creative missions and deep story line and twists and fun war simulation in first person. but multiplay i heard sucks. One of the lead canidates.

Legends of Might and Magic

A fantasy internet shooter, 16 people a game, differing weapons, good side, evil side, differing weapons and well constructed maps, and so-so graphics. Im just considering.

Emperor: Battle for dune: I need a new RTS.... A westwood RTS that I heard is good, but a little dissapointment. So-so single player, kool units and gameplay, very nice graphics and explosions. Pretty good multiplay. One of the leading canidates.

Everquest: A VERY succesful massivily multiplayer game, quests, stats, etc etc etc, multiplay, training, dont know much about it, but I have never tried a massivily multiplayer game before so I am Highly considering it and one of my lead canidates.

World War II Online: From what I heard, this a is a poorly deisinged game, but a good massive multiplayer. Go on germen or allied, pilot tanks, be infentry, varrying weapons, differing tanks and planes and infentry. Drive a truck to carry infentry, be a gun emplacement. FIght and cooperate with people. A persistent world. But I heard it is very buggy. But when everyone works together, the war turns into a front, 10,000 people limit in one of its few prob official servers. Slightly considering.

Whats your opinions on which I should get? Or other games?

I'm not sure I get what type you want...

For an excellent WW2 tactics (strategy) game I'd suggest Combat Mission; Beyond Overlord.
It's not RTS, it's realistic! It use a "WeGo" system where both sides spend some time to issue orders to their troops. Then the computer figures out what happens the next minute, and the player(s) can view the actions like a fully 3d movie. (Move the "camera" pretty much as you please over the battlefield, tag along with any of the troops or independantly. Wind it back or forward to see a re-run from a different angle...)

The 3d graphics is a quantum leap forward from the traditional 2d, and with 3rd party mods it looks great.

The AI that controls the units, and may act as your opponent, is the best available for any game. (But it's still not a very good attacker...)

A demo version is available at www.battlefront.com which is also the (only) place to buy it. ($45 + p&p, well spent money.)

A follow-up for the east front is in the works, and scheduled for release later this year...

Cheers

I'd also give my support to Operation Flashpoint (very realistic, I liked it much and I'm surely not a fan of this kind of game normally), Combat Mission, still the best available wargame even 2 years after its release, and probably Civ3 will be very good, but that's worth chacking.

However, if you decide to go the MMORPG way, Dark Age of Camelot might be a better choice than Everquest. I've heard only good things from people who play it, it's the same kind of environment (fantasy) and it avoids the plague of first-generation MMORPGs, camping (which means having to wait somewhere for monsters to spawn, and being in competition with other people for the good camping spots,etc.). Might be worth checking it out before going the EQ way...

I agree with Terminus that you might want to go with DAOC instead of EverQuest if you want a fantasy MMORPG. I've played EQ for more than two years. It's a great and fun game, but as Terminus says, the game system is "first generation". The "second generation" games now available (like DAOC) take into account many of the lessons learned from the first generation games. Verant is constantly tweaking and expanding EQ, but it's pretty much just more eye-candy tacked onto the same old game.  Grin

I agree Bullet but I think jerri is looking for a multiplayer and I don't think Civ3 is going to be, I'm sure I read about it somewhere, although I could be wrong :-/ Smiley

here's a' my take...

Majesty is a lot of fun.  It's simalar to Tropico in that you don't have direct control over your "heroes", rather you build structures and place rewards on monsters/places to encourage heros to go do stuff.  Maybe I'm not explaining it that well, but the game is suprisingly a lot of fun, and there is an expansion out already.

ah, everquest.  after playing Ultima Online and losing track of six months of my life, i shy away from MMORPGS.  Dark Age of Camalot looks to be better then EQ or UO or AC or any of the others.

i'm eagerly waiting for civ 3.

Yeh, he's very much for multiplayer.
WW2 is a good one too, despite its problems, and high subscription fee (when they start charging it)
i'd have it, if i wasn't living in a country where the telcos are more concerned with annual profits, then giving me decent internet.

If you do play everquest, play only on test server.  The rest are really overloaded, and few people have any manners.  Test is really the way EQ was supposed to be.

Well, actully, I REALLY like multiplayer games, yeah. Meanwhile im lookin for a more single player experience, because for multiplyer right now I have Tribes 2, red alert, and if I could soon get my Counterstrike running up properly (ugh patches). OPF seems to be a more single player experience, lotsa missions, huge maps, differing missions, storyline, so i might go with it for a single play for a change.

Just to add some fun below...

Combat Mission has, as stated, the very best AI around, and is therefore excellent for single player.
It can also be played by two players, using "hotseat" (taking turns at a single computer), PBEM or TCP/IP connection.
The game doesn't support more than two players, but there are those who have figured out ways to incorporate more players into a PBEM by sending partially processed order files between them.

And now for the fun part of this message:
Here's the start of a short comic strip, featuring commented actual in-game screen shots from CM.
Just read the text, look at the picture, and click on the "Next page" link at the bottom.

Enjoy! Grin

If you're looking for single player, than I would say Civ 3. Persoanlly, i'm going to see if I can't get it the day it comes out. However, since nobody's actually played it yet, you might want to go with something else.

Coffeebean, you're right though, it won't be shipping with multiplayer.

Empire Earth has a set-up where if you pre-order you get the Beta, with the multiplayer game and a couple of ages.  RTS isn't really my thing (though I am eagerly awaiting Warcraft 3, and have been for years Cheesy )

Also, Europa Universalis 2 should be out by christmas, check out the orignal EU if you haven't, easily the best strategy game since SMAC, maybe since Civ 2.

"Our problems, both those we experience externally- such as wars, crime, and violence- and those we experience internally- our emotional pain and psychological sufferings- cannot be solved unless we address the underlying neglect.  That is why the great movements of the last hundred years and more- democracy, liberalism, socialism- have all failed to deliver the universal benefits they were supposed to provide, despite many wonderful ideas.  A revolution is called for, certainly.  But not a political, an economic, or even a technical revolution.  We have had enough evperience of these during the past century to know that an external approach will not suffice.  What I propose is a spiritual revolution."
