In Tanks We Trust

« on: 10/23/01 at 04:58 AM »

I have just thumbed through the new PC Gamer (UK) and found an interesting article on a game, scheduled for release in summer 2002, called Beach Life.

Here is the article, thanks to pcgamer (UK).

Quote
Sun, sand and sex are the 18-30 promises made by Eidos of their new holiday simulation, in which players will be able to construct and run resorts around the world. First of all, ruin your paradise location by building your hotel with bars, clubs, beach games and water sport centres, then set your captive price and open for a demanding package-holiday summer season.

Holiday-from-hell disasters that may beset your resort will include tropical storms, food poisoning in the hotel resaurants and guests over-indulging in romance, cheap booze and loud music. Other pitfalls come in the forms of pesky mosquitoes and water pollution.

The pics given are a remarkable likeness to Tropico and anyone interested in the tourist side of Tropico would be well advised to keep an eye out for it.

The producers, Edios, can be found at http://www.eidos.com, but there appears to be little, if anything, mentioned about the game.

What he said Grin

And Tropico itself and this new game remind me of one of the old games I play. Its called Holiday Island and its available from this way cool Abandonware gaming site(click the banners Tongue):
http://www.theunderdogs.org/game.php?name=Holiday+Island

The premise was basically the same as Tropico's tourism. It didnt have any way to add scenarios but it did have random maps. Smiley I like playing to a goal so I lost interest Tongue

Germans make the coolest games(Patricians and Mad TV are also cool from that site). They have Sid Meiers Colonization too. Kiss Kiss

Oh and I can't find any info on Beach life on the site Mr P Sad Sad Sad Is there a specific page I'm looking for?

Well, I'm guessing there are no soldiers, but I'd sure like to be able to convert a lifeguard tower into a machine-gun nest. If anyone so much as looks like David Hasselhoff they'll be in for the bullet.Smiley

Let me see...Eidos....Commando's....might just happen you know. Roll Eyes
