I've been playing Tropico off and on since just before it came out, and only recently did I take a look at Cafe Tropico. First, I'd like to say very well done to Dave and the staff. You have created and maintained a surprisingly useful and well organized site. Kudos to you all. Considering how nice the site currently is I think you should be very careful about changing things. In particular, I think your decision not to move under the Gamespy umbrella was a wise one. I for one wouldn't mind a couple banners if they help you pay for the bandwidth. Second, I want to express how impressed I am with the people who post. My previous encounters with posting were on an Everquest site. I shudder now thinking about how horrible the situation was (and still is): run-ons, partial sentences, mis-spellings galore, posts completely off topic, posts with false information, non-intelligeable posts... ugh... still gets me riled thinking about it. I have always been able to find useful, thought provoking information on this site. I think that has to do with the nature of the game... After all... how many illiterate, juvenile, mind-numbed people are going to choose Tropico with all the other game titles available. It's a form of self-selection really...

Welcome, Angry Beaver! I agree, this is a great place for a talk, without having DOS PEEPS HU CHAT LIK DIS, U NO!?!?!? People with the IQ of a dried dog biscuit generally don't realise the joy in ruling over a small Carribean island! BTW, check "always logged in" when you sign in-that's the reason why you're shown as a guest. Once you you're a General and I'm an Emperor, you're going to be Head of Contradictions in my cabinet-Watch Yourself! Twice in your first post-better than me .

Hey Angry Beaver, welcome to the fourms. Yeah, I have a few friends who never advanced past Diablo. When I told them about Tropico, they said, "You actually wasted $30 on that."

"Our problems, both those we experience externally- such as wars, crime, and violence- and those we experience internally- our emotional pain and psychological sufferings- cannot be solved unless we address the underlying neglect. That is why the great movements of the last hundred years and more- democracy, liberalism, socialism- have all failed to deliver the universal benefits they were supposed to provide, despite many wonderful ideas. A revolution is called for, certainly. But not a political, an economic, or even a technical revolution. We have had enough evperience of these during the past century to know that an external approach will not suffice. What I propose is a spiritual revolution." --The Dalai Lama "Ethics for the New Millenium"

That's the most perfect, definitive post I've ever seen on this board. The absolute epitome of prototypical Night Club persiflage. Kudos, Your Eddyship. Oh Yeah... a belated Welcome, Beaver.
