Andreas of Tropico Island, the German site who assisted us with the expansion poll, has asked me for some information.  Unfortunately I am not a major nethead (just a cafe tropican junkie ).  I was hoping that members could maybe help me out in helping him, considering the work he did with the expansion poll (Junta said they got a bigger response than Cafe Tropico).

If you can answer any or all of the following questions, it would be a great help.  Either I can email him back, or provide his email address to anyone interested in helping him.

We will translate our fansite for Patrician 2 (the biggest in German) in english, because the game (sells 120.000 units in germany, was week for week on Number 1) will be shipped across USA and Canada on Oktober, 12th - and the first previews in america a very very good, so the game will become an hit i think. It is the most perfect game i have ever played, and in germany some players went already mad because it´s so genious...

Strategy First is the publisher for USA - Ascaron, the german designer-company of the game - supports our site by 100%
We registered the domain www.patricianworld.com for that action, and i try at the moment to get hosted by Gamespy.com with my site.
But - there´s much work to do - and i think you can help me:

1. What will i have to do, to become links, news an so at all important Us-gamesites (i don´t know much of them)
2. I need a good US-advertiser for the site, but i don´t know a good one (we need pay per click banners)
3. Could you link the site @ cafetropico? (Patrician is Tropico in middle age...)
4. Do you know other webmasters with strategy-sites that could link the site?
5. What do Americans know about the game? Is it pushed by the press, are people waiting for it, are there any sites about it in the net and so on?
6. In Germany, we have some "Link-Portals" for fansites. There you can register your page and if someone seeks it, he get the link...do you also have Portals like this?

I hope, you can answer me some questions. Because it is the first time, i do an fanpage for american customers...

Hi Andreas!  I think I can help with a couple of things.  To your questions:
1. Not sure I understand, but if you want US sites to give you links and news, the only way I know is to email them and ask.  Or have such a great site that they will link to you!  If you host with Gamespy, this should give you some exposure already.
2. If you do host with Gamespy, they do not allow other advertisers, according to their faq sheet, so this is not really an option.
3. Yes, CafeTropico can definitely give you a link.  Let me know when it's ready.
4. Pretty much have to follow links from other sites.  The gamer sites like Gamespy would be again the best place to start.
5. Never heard of it...
6. Don't know of link portals, but the best way I know is to submit your site with keywords and metatags to the biggest search engines and they will index it.  The better your tags are optimized, the higher on their list you will be.
