embarassing newbie question

where do you get to see what the carribean average wage is? i couldn´t find it anywhere in my almanach

I'm not so much a newbie anymore, but can tell you it's a pain in the butt to find the carribean wage.  I can't even tell you without having the game open, which I don't have here at work.  

However, I know it is embedded in the almanac, meaning you have to click on at least one or more links inside the almanac to find it.

Click the People tab in the almanac. Click on Income Disparity.  Its at the bottom.

Any good player checks this to get more workers and increase happiness.

Yes Job Quality and the number of immigrants you get depends on the difference between Average Carbibbean pay and your local pay.

The less the difference the more the people and thier job quality.

No, it's more difference (with higher wage on Tropico) that gets you more people and happiness.

When the poorest quantile on Tropico earns on par with or more than the Caribbean average, it's a good start...

Well this is just splitting hairs. Mathematically if you subtract 2 from 3 then the difference is more than if you subtract 3 from 2. (some creative math here)

However, I understand what you're sayin is that if you raise average wages above the caribbean average you will get a lot more people. Agreed. At any rate you should try and match the carib wage.

I think between your difference and my difference Olle, we may have confused people hehe.

Perfectly clear to me

I tend to use the graph and have clicked on the carribean average, the very richest, the middle-est and the very poorest (I can't remember the exact terms) and then keep the middle-est as near too the average as I can, depending on available finances and my need for more workers. It's a very good way of helping to control immigration.

OK then if you click on a character, and bring up the info bar, the middle one is housing and job, there are 2 bars :-/ 1 is for job quality and the other is relative pay. Well the pay bar compairs the pay with his/her island peers and the world

Hm..the pay bar is pay relative to OTHER workers on the island AFAIK. Not the carribean wage.

I pay my people minimum wage and toss em in jail if they complain.  Aren't I evil?  That WILL solve the pay problem: UE: 3, HE; 6, and CE; 9.
I haven't listened to any complaints so far!
