Since the topic of femaleness has been popping up on the threads frequently, I thought I might pick peoples brains on the subject.

Don't be shy, this is an anthropological study on my part.  Also, please don't take this accusatorially.  HAVE FUN! - but not too much fun, now.   Grin

If you are a male gamer (well, heck it would be sexist to leave out the female perspective now wouldn't, ok, come on board (no pun intended)) and think I, or any of the other female gamers, are feminists, I would like to know the exact reason(s) that frames your sentiments.

And as an aside, did you ever wonder why in the english lexicon there is a word for hating females, misogyny, for hating MAN, misanthropy, but NO word for hating men.

I don't think I'm one per se, but I do feel like the female race has been given a boost every time I kick some cocky guy's butt in a video game!!!   Grin But my question is, does liking something that is a stereotypical male thing, make women feminists?

Alright, what is all this biz about anyway?  I don't see you women as any sort of feminist nor do I dislike the fact that there is an increasing number of female gamers.  I actually happen to enjoy the knowledge of knowing that the computer game industry is becoming more and more unisexually.  So what is driving this discussion?

I think the questions, as worded, are ill-posed.  Given that feminism and chauvinism are a hodgepodge of political, social, and religous beliefs, it's kinda like asking "does playing Tropico make me a Republican?"  I think that an interest in strategy gaming, especially historical-based simulation, is a symptom of that terrible disease known as "having a brain and the will to use it".  There's a depressing shortage of this disease in both males and females, so it's always a delight to meet a fellow victim.  Grin

However, there are dangerous side-effects when a woman embraces a stereotypical male activity.  The most common are: conversing in monosyllables, and a desire to torch the planet right down to the mantle.  The side effects when a man embraces a stereotypical female activity are: wearing of punitive shoes, and a desire to torch the planet right down to the mantle.

Yeah, that's what my bf says. I would be miserable if I dated a guy who didn't like playing video games.  I think it's a great way to spend time together, it creates conversation, and if can become a great new way to play Strip Poker.

Considering the above definition of feminism one wouldn't be all that surprised if you are feminist. Or do you mean feminist in the ‘Femnazi’ meaning? If so I must say I do not know those involved well enough to make such a judgment. Though might help if we had your definition of Feminist as it applies to this thread.

I guess I was thinking in a pseudo feminazi way (although, I quess really don't know the specifics of what makes a feminazi).  In keeping the question light, I didn't think to be specific.

Furthermore, the word feminist is rarely used in a neutral way, i.e. the dictionary definition provided, so in my mind I equated feminism with feminazism.

Point: I just didn't think it through.   Sorry.

most people in the US are feminist, by the dictionary terms.
Most people who actually call themselves feminist are actually feminazis by Rushes tems.

Vote for Rebecca Wade in the Tropico Pagent. I think you would all read her bio and agree she is a feminist. Shes one of those "dont call me a chick" chicks
