Tropico has got to be the most stressful game ever invented. At first I thought it would be pretty simple, but there is so much you have to monitor and you never have enough builders to build everything your people need! I played Black & White and that's a harder game, I suggest you all buy it, its more challenging, Tropico is just waaaaaaaaaaaaay too hard. Have any of you had problems adapting to it? I'd love to get some issuse with this game resolved, cause it looks like it has potential. I love the communist aspect of the game, but if you make your regime communist, you always seem to suffer. This is not right...do you all not agree? Communism is the way to go. Thanx all. CRA

A- Try really easy difficulty first. It's either that or you're a pathetic wretch. B-Communism sucks in real life, and thus, in a simulation of real life. Just my two cents...

I agree, "Rebel" Timmy (boy you really moved up fast). Who says games have to be easy for enjoyment? Life is not easy, and is this game, managing people is not easy. When I first started reading this post, I thought CRA was trying to be funny. When I finished, I realized he has no concept of how a good game should be. My opinion.

Well said.
By the way, I'm averaging 42.67 posts per day. Most of them are useless, but it seems to be the only way to gain respect, ironically. At this rate, I will be a general in two-three days, a dictator in six-seven days, and an emperor in 12-14 days. Geez...

I agree with Diego, respect is definately never bought. Except in the case of Tropico, where you can issue a tax cut for a temporary respect gain.
Also, it's quality not quantity. 500 useless posts don't mean squat. I think I've said it before, the only people who look at the "titles" and think they mean anything are the post-a-holics. Anyway, enough of that.
To Canadian Red Army:
Sorry that you don't enjoy the game. I personally found B&W to be quite boring. Pretty, but boring.... reminds me of a gal I once dated. Tropico is easy to learn, difficult to master. Try a game with the easiest difficulty settings (Random Map) and you won't find it quite so stressful. Good Luck!

Alright, I'll continue changing over to useful posts. I have begun already. See, the problem is, I respond to nearly all of the threads in the top section of the forum, but none of them merit a useful answer...

hey CRA, if you give this game a chance, you'll eventually like it and have quite a few of your own strategies to use. I myself was a bit confused at the start when I first bought the game but I soon became so addicted that I have not bought a new computer game since (which is a new goal since I usually get so bored that I buy a new game every month and it's been what... almost three months?) Second, if you want to know everyones views on communisum, i'd suggest you read the post "Communisum & Tourisum". There's quite a few interesting rants in that post... especialy mine!

hey man, i'm not trying to say this game should be given up on...I'm still playting it and trying to get a handle but MAN! This is probably the first game ever that has had so many multiple things yoiu need to address @ once.
i'm new to the whole tropico cafe/msg board/game itself,m but i'm slowly getting a handle.
communism des work, the fact that people abuse it is the problem. What we need is a leader free of ego, corruption, and has a precise and concrete view of what the Communist Manefesto is and reads.

I never thought I'd encounter anything that would get me away from Pharaoh and RCT, then along comes the sleep stealing Tropico .... I think you'll find the more you play it the more complexity there is, and the things you can do are virtually unlimited.
I was unimpressed with Black and White, maybe it's just that it was overhyped. Sold it to a buddy for $20 a week after I bought it.
Tropico beats it hands down. Now if there was only an expansion pak ...

Whoooooooooaaaaaaaaaaa, clam down Red.
Anyway, as for relevance here on this forum, at least with me, on this board, it's have fun, on anything besides the Areana, it's time to be serious.
As for the game, try out the tutorial to begin with.

RedSentry, you are a fool. Stop trying to pick political arguments with everyone. Calm down. This is a forum for a computer game, not a struggle between Stalinists and Capitalists and Communists and whatever. I believe this is a Tropico forum... Irrelevence is okay, even a few political arguments, but stop trying to get into a shouting war with whoever you don't particularly like...

Actually, Red's reaction to CRA is predictable. The first thing Communists do when they take over is to start purging other Communists. This entails 1) an arrest in the dead of night, 2) torture/brain-washing, 3) a show trial, 4) public "confession", 5) conviction as an "enemy of the people" and finally 6) firing squad.

actually, communism is a state-less class-less society which follows SOCIALISM (which has been achived in cuba and the ussr under lenin [and no where else]). communism can only be achived after the entire world has become socialist. socialism comes in many forms: maoism, marxism-leninism, stalinism, trotskyiteism, and 'new' socialism...those are the major ones, and i guess i'll describe them all (i have time ) marxism-leninism: the original and more pure type. straight from 'das capital'(marx), 'the communist manifesto'(marx/engels), and 'the state and revoultion'(lenin). practiced in cuba and the ussr under lenin. stalinism: stalinism is fascism under a marxist banner. its just like if hitler, or mussolini would stride around saying "power to the people". the pretend to be marxists but are really fascists. stalin was a hard-core fascistmaoism: same as stalinism but slightly less agressive. trotskyiteism: very similar to marxism, however it is slightly less socialistic, a bit more to the right. trotsky once said he supports private farms. new socialism: a knock off of social democracy. basicly, just social democracy but it supports trade unions more. other types of extreme-leftism: anarchism: anarchy wants to learn to run before it can walk. it wants to go right to communism without socialism. syndacalism: government controlled by trade unions. practiced slightly during the spanish civil war and in the ussr under lenin. note: when i say 'marxism' a mean marxism-leninism but, hell, my fingers are tired.
