Here's a trivia question... other than the rat of course, what character in the opening video does NOT appear in the game?

How about Lola as the name for the showgirl?

Sounds sort of latin and who can ignore the obvious song reference??

Would it be the Hooker propositioning the soldier? She sure looks like a hooker to me, anyway!  Also note that in the game only females work in the markets but the movie shows a male storekeeper.

We need a saluting smiley, so as to properly address our superiors!

Salutations, Mon Generale! (learned that word from Templeton, the rat in Charlotte's Web)

Um, okay, a salutation would be a good smiley, however, it would increase this whole top down attitude.

Nope, that's the Showgirl, no doubt taking a break from the cabaret up the street (the one the male retiree comes out of).

It sounds good, but if you're going to refer to the Eric Clapton tune, in the song "Lola" was a transvestite.

I don't think we want to make that inference.  Tongue

No, no, no, you've got it all wrong.

The song I'm refering to is sung by Barry Manalow, I know I know it is amazing that he could put out a decent song.  It goes something like this....

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
But while she tried to be a star,
Tony always tended bar
Across the crowded floor, he worked from 8 til 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)

What's the song you are refering to by Eric Clapton?  I know he does Layla, but I've never heard of Lola by him.  Are you referencing the song that goes....

Lola...el-o-el-a lola, lo-lo-lo-la-la
...now I'm not the world's most passionate guy, but when she held me close she nearly broke my spine oh, my lola....

I can't remember who that song is by, but I'm pretty sure it's not Clapton...

You're right, I got Lola mixed up with Layla. The Lola song I'm thinking of -- the one you mentioned -- is by The Kinks.

My subconscious mind's defense mechanisms had blocked out any memory of Barry Manilow lyrics, but now that you've reminded me (and THANKS a WHOLE FREAKIN' LOT for THAT, btw) I agree, it would be a good name for a showgirl. As long as nobody starts making transvestite inferences.

Having Eddy on this board is enough of that.  Kiss

Uh Oh, Mon Generale, you may have created a problem: The Grape Fizzy was delicious and I thank you greatly for the award. My concern is that my Husband, EDDY, won my heart oh so many years ago by plying me with 5 Tequila Shooters at El Torito Restaurant! Of course, he does not pilfer my wardrobe. I better stay away from those Grape Fizzys (Fizzies?)...I'm too old to fall in love again!

Something tells me Patty wasn't the only one who had too many tequila shooters that night at El Torito.  Grin

There aren't any "little Eddys," are there Patty? That news might just kill him outright....

As a matter of fact, there IS a "little Eddy" (and that's what he is still called, even though he is now 37) in Phoenix. However, his dad is from Newark, NJ...I am the one born and raised in Pittsburgh, PENNSYLVANIA!

(holding paper bag over Eddyatwork's face)

And, Eddy, please tell me it was not your father (or grandfather) Eddy, Sr (?) whom I met at age 12 at the Rec Swimming Pool in Bloomfield a week before my family moved me away to California...that would really be toooooo weird!

lola is a great name for the showgirl.  "her name is lola, she wasa  showgirl"- "her name is lola she was a showgirl, still in the dress she used to wear faded feathers in her hair"  great song.

anyway. . . i think the maid should be named consuela instead of the engineer.  its a good suggestion, but on television half of the spanish/mexican/south american maids are named consuela.  just somehting to think about.

and i used to have a tarantula, her name was katy.  arachne would be another good spider name.
