Is there a way to make a month last longer?

I think that the occasional economic droughts are caused by the amount of time it takes to collect the goods, send them to the dock and load them on a boat!

I do not think that there exists any country that would allow this to happen!  Negative revenue in a year? imposssible!

I think that if they doubled or tripled the length of time it takes to finish a month, the game would be more effective in simulating a real economic model!

I'm in total agreement, I just don't have much else to say about it, I did notice that on very fast speed that a month goes by in about 8 seconds.

Do you think something may be wrong with the time compressions?  Maybe some things are not being calculated because the engine can't keep up as you expand.

I think that they chose the present time compression standards as the best overall balance for the game. It would be nice to see construction accelerated, but I'm not too upset about the pace of the game. In RRT2 I was originally pretty upset with the time compression (why should it take 4 years for a train to reach Seattle from Minneapolis?!?), but the cash balances out and that's what matters in a game in which an industrial model is being portrayed.

Paomanz,

This time compression bug of which you speak I have not been able to verify, if I get you right.

Were'nt you stating something to the effect that at the higher speeds the time is traveling faster than the little Tropicans are sped up?  Like while the time might be at x5, the Tropicans are only getting x4 the work done?

Curious that you may have been on to something I started up the pre-designed sceanrio "New Havana" and did nothing for a full game year.  A few times I ran through the first year at very fast, and another few times I ran it at normal.  While the Year End Almanac came up with some pretty varied results each time, there was no consistent higher or lower net profit based on the time compression settings.

So There.

Did I misunderstand your bug or do you have a better way to confirm its existence?

Hey dude!

I was not reffering to a bug!  I was merely commenting on the length of a month or a year, for that matter, in Tropico!  It is way off!  I can barely accomplish anything!

Ahh, my bad.

Yeah time is pretty abstract in this game but, compared to RRT2, its not really any more so.

Usually I run the game on ultra fast setting because I want to see things get done, but last night I was in a more contemplative mood so I had it on very slow and was able to watch the people.  It seemed that more was accomplished in a year than in the fast mode.  I saw three apartments and a marketplace go up in four years while in the fast mode it would probably have taken twice as long from my experience.  I may have to take a deep breath and smell the roses in my games from now on.

How crazy can you get? The best simulation is the one that takes a day to simulate a day. To do "Tropico" well, a single game should take 50 actual years.

Who knows what Eddy was smoking or drinking. The same amount of stuff happens no matter the speed. It's what you actually see that is different.

Well, you can get very silly when your brain is pickled.
