Last night it struck me like lightning.  This game is being compared to Sim City its not like Sim City at all.

Tropico is like The Sims, only bigger.  In the Sims you have one house and up to 8 Sims.  You put furniture in the house to keep your Sims happy.

In Tropico you start with 35 Tropicans.  You build buildings to keep them happy.  More and more Tropicans are born and you can have up to 500.

This game is going to be tough.  There's no way in heck you can keep 500 people happy!

you cant keep everyone happy, thats the point of the game. If there wernt any uprisings, what fun would the game be.

it's also interesting to notice that Tropico can be thought of as kind of an exact opposite of Railroad Tycoon 2:

RRT2:  Complete control over your people (trains) but almost no control over buildings or the way cities develop (just influence)

Tropico:  Complete control over buildings and how cities develop but almost no control over your people (just influence)

I thought that was pretty neat, considering that the layout, interface, engine (even the font) is almost the same...

That strikes me as a very astute observation.
