Sorry to ask this, but I have been out of Tropico for awhile.  I was sick with the flu, picked it back up and fell in love again.  Well, maybe not love  Wink

My question is, uprisings were a problem at one time, have they been fixed?

I will also say I am mighty disappointed that my edict for Military Parades didn't make it into the expansion.

If this refers to a crash problem...  no it's not fixed.  Still crashes perfectly.

Autosave resurrected my uprising for my viewing "pleasure".

Strangely I had 254 inhabitants before and after the uprising, inwhich presumably only 75 loyalists survived against 22 traitors and a fair number hiding (which escapes me now).

All told it didn't add up to 254.

 Still lasts years.

The graphics of burning flags burning, or waving flags fluttering...  along with the flying chickens gets old over time.  You don't think all that might put a strain on the operation do ya?

This is wordy.  I guess I could just as well have said "nope".

Thanks for the reply.  I guess what I was asking was do uprisings ever end?  From what you say they still take years but they do end.  One note about uprisings, the number of survivors is only given from those that actually fight right?  I could see about a third or so simply refraining from the battle.

The number 254 I gave was total population....  the number was the same at the beginning of the uprising as it was at the end, which I find unlikely to be very accurate since the one thing you can watch that actually changes during the uprising is the loyalist and traitor numbers diminishing as they kill one another.

Had the population count been accurate afterwards, there should have been considerably less than 100 total inhabitants left if memory serves.

I wasn't impressed with it; in fact I was dissapointed with the result.

Not that I enjoy slaughtering my population...  but it would be nice if the derned thing at least did what it claimed it was doing.

It did end... but it crashed before it ended.

Interestingly enough the uprising would have likely been a victory for the traitors, since the numbers of loyalists getting killed was greater before the crash.

When I restarted from autosave, this was reversed.

Since the population count was the same before and after the supposed slaughter, something obviously went haywire.  Once that happened, I became skeptical whether any of the data on the island was to be believed now.

Anyway that's been my experience with an uprising since installing PI.

I guess if I make it to an uprising from now on I'll just consider it finished.

Are you saying you've experienced these crashes only since installing TPI? we did nothing to that code.

Yes.I also experienced crashes during uprisings since I installed TPI.This never happens with the "original" Tropico. The crash can be reproduced, I've got a savegame seconds before the crash.

And there is the problem with non-endings uprisings, too. Will the patch fix this and the crashes?

Send me the file and we'll look into it.

No -- we weren't asked by PopTop to address anything regarding uprisings.

We found the problem. The code was looking for non-existent rioting animations for rebels. It'll be fixed in the patch.

Thanks, Rebel-Yell, for sending me the file. It enabled us to pinpoint the bug quickly.

Note that Breakaway Mac reports the crash is fixed.

...  Still lasts years.  ...

That's because the player is not intended to be a passive observer; s\he is supposed to join in to defend staying in office. There is plenty for the player to do to speed up a resolution.
