Those baby orphans get me everytime! The first time I just had an angry college grad that hated when I pulled her out of the farm and put her in an office. I clicked on her and found it it was my exwife. Small world.

Nope Sceeva, it is open until the end of the month. Be sure to IM Che with your highest score on or before the 20th, so he can update the board average.

There is a message in the "News-banner" of this forum wich says: deadline is March 31st. We all know we can play until April 30th - but this message might confuse new people who want to join the competition. Perhaps CaveDave can change it?

PEEWEE! Our Highness, Prince CafeDave is NOT called CaveDave! And no, we are not in the Cave Tropico, but in the Cafe! Maybe some of us do act like cavemen or -women sometimes, but all in all we try to behave like modern humans in a cafe! Che Miguel, Chief of Neandertal-West

Che or Mr P: Am I missing something? What is this board average? Is it viewable now? And also, how should I send my high score in?
Forgive my simple questions, I am but a tourist in this happy land ...where 86% of the people are more than content!
Thank you and have a nice day.

Estio, As I understand it, potential contestants are invited to submit to Che by the 20th of April their best score so far. Che will average these out so the contestants get an idea of how they are progressing relative to other players. There is no requirement to submit your score for these purposes, however generally people seemed to think it would be a useful thing to do. The score you submit might be different to that achieved in your final submission (due end-of-month). It is hoped that people take a responsible attitude and don't submit bogus scores.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
I have created the most challenging scenario of my Tropico career. It's called Canon Grande and has a nice little story, quite funny messages, and it is hard to win. I will email this scenario to every competitor (who wants to have it, of course) as a reward for joining the competition. You must not be among the top three or top ten or top anything. At the moment I have 3 submitted save games and 5 emails according to the average score. Good luck, Che

I demand an edict to eliminate the world bank! I had a really good score at December 1979 (half a month before the end of the game, when the message to save the game popped up!). Then the world bank put the wages to a maximum of $20. Bang!- worst score ever. I like the world bank. I really like it. And I like my people: it takes years to make them happy, and it takes half a month to make them hate me. What a realistic game! Che

... and sure enough, you've got 60 tonnes of stuff sitting there at the docks, but where are our ever-reliable dockworkers? "Curses!" I say! Looking forward to the 20th April contest #2 survey result(s)! They've been posted!

Well, Cam, if my people could eat gold, they would have been *well fed* with the tons which were lying at the dock. I think I'll go back to Cesar III ... No world bank, the dock workers always at work, people building their houses on their own ... oh yes, I go back to Rome and become emperor ... Che

I loved Caesar III. I played it for ever. The guys in the horse drawn buggies sucked though.

650 average score huh? I should quit while I'm ahead. After hitting my high score last week, I can't seem to duplicate my success.
But there is hope! 450 people are possible and 90% happiness is possible. Now if I could only do both in the same game!
Coffeebean's goal of 1000 seems more difficult than ever, so I'll settle with trying to reach 900. If only my people would eat karats...
And what is the problem with these lazy dock workers?

Oh, thanks for the reminder there Che; I think I will submit my current high score tonight, just so I know one game is safely 'in bed', as it were.

Che, your comment about the World Bank brings up a little question on scoring for me, since I had this happen to me too. For the final score, do you take the score at the time of the save or let the game run until the end of December and record that score. I didn't realize there was an end of year event until I let one map continue after getting the world bank disaster just to see if I recovered. But most of my games actually go up a point or three as those edicts kick in another month's worth of happiness. Just thought this point should be clarified, but maybe everyone else knew it already.

CafeDave, If I may be so bold to answer on Che's behalf. I too noticed that the almanac and the final score varied, and Che has informed me that the pop up dossier message is the one that shall be counted; "Presidenta, you have finished this game with a total score of 924 points." Unfortunately one of my games may vary by as much as four points from the 'save' point to the actual dossier screen on reloading.

Thank you Cam, that's exactly what I think. The game ends at December, 31st, and that's when the final almanac page pops up. So, from the saving message on, the world bank has one month time to destroy the player's work of 30 years ... Greetings, Che

Guys and girls, I have a problem, Re: the exact definition of final score. My December score drops by over 150 from what it was when I am asked to save the game, compared to when the final 'your final score' notice pops up?! How can this be?!
