When I go to the environment overlay is says one way to reduce pollution is to place polluting stuff downwind and away from population centers......
Sorry for not being a nature wiz, but what direction is downwind?

Zoom out and watch the clouds..  they show you which way the wind is blowing

what way the winds blow depends on what hemisphere you are in.  In the northern Hemisphere, wind ALWAYS blows east (on land it seems like the winds shift, but where the clouds are the wind doesn't shift) and toward the equator.  In the southern, I think(but am not sure) that they blow west and towards the equator.
