I love Tropico! Yep, I do!

I have played this scenario several times and I'm getting so frustrated.

I've only been able to get up to about $400,000 in the alloted time.

It seems I have the most trouble keeping my people fed and housed properly. Tourism tends to take off quite well, if I could just keep the people happier, especially the electrical plant and airport employees. They seem to leave the island even if I'm paying them in the top level.

I noticed here http://www.strategyplanet.com/tropico/scenarios.shtml

that they state the scenario as Very Hard. In the game it is listed as Moderate.

I've decided after practicing with many different scenarios that I would go down the list on Easy to Ridiculously Hard to try to conquer. I'll never proceed the way I'm going cause I can't conquer this one for the life of me.

Any ideas, hints, tips? BTW, I don't cheat. I like the challenge of playing without cheats.

Mountaineers do it for Tropico

Well I managed it with 5 years to spare scoring 1084 - as it was only classed as moderate I'd previously tried it at level 3 for random events and scored $699,000.  Cant remember how now as it seemed fairly straightforward - just keep building tourist attractions, at least good Hotels and an airport using edicts to bring in the punters.  Certainly didn't use any cheats (didn't know they existed when I did it).

Just keep on trying!!!    Cool  Cool Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Huh

 Tongue Lucky!!  Wink

I do build lots of hotels... all types too. The tourists seem to love the condo's.  Wink

I'll try again sometime. Now I've played it so much I'm bored with it.

But, now I'm stuck on Comrades in Arms.  Roll Eyes

Actually, I think I might've had a chance at beating this one last night, except for that darn Hurricane Kristy came and set me back big time!! I usually set the storms for seldom occur, but they always seem to hit at least once anyway during the course of play. It's not so bad when they hit at the beginning of the game, but when you have a few years in and all your docks are destroyed as well as housing and farms, it's difficult to recover.  Undecided

This game... I tell ya....  Tongue

When I get too frustrated, I turn off storms to never occur.

Hate to say it but I managed Comrades in Arms with 2 yrs to spare.  Only at lowest level though so no extra storms that aren't built in.  The ones I cant do and got driven mad by are Born Again and Cannery Row - dont know if you've played CR but I've had four canning factories and the blighters still wont can the goods fast enough to let me win!  Currently I've been trying to solve Distant Dreams with no success and another that's awful is Jailhouse Rock - cant understand the point behind it - and it kept crashing.

Anyway a Happy New Year in Tropicana!

Hey I just noticed an item in the Tropico Questions and News section headed Comrades in Arms which contained some good hints on how to win it - near the bottom of page 1.
