Black Screen

I thought I'd seen this problem discussed here but after much searching cant find it so here goes.

After the opening credits I reach the New Game/Saved Game screen. Hit the new game button (when I can get the mouse working but I've read how to cure that!) and the screen goes black although the background music is playing o/k.  Anyone any ideas?

Spent six hours downloading 1st night and it had got corrupted and 12 hours last night so I'm well p..d off!!!
I've previously tried downloading other demos (Trailer Park Tycoon and Railroad Tycoon) and cant get either of them to play either.  Wonder whether it's really worth downloading these things?

Thanks Coconut - I'll try it as soon as Im off line.  Only looked in T2 - didnt try the general Q.

Incidentally trying to stop the mouse "arrow" flickering I went into ini as described elsewhere in this section but all it is is an empty Folder.  I'll post there as well to see if I get any help.

Well I wonder where Coconuts reply has gone

I've totally forgotten and when I did get it up and running I thought the game was so poor I've hardly ever played it - certainly not in the last 2 years!

After many restarts and different resolutions and switches to 16 bit color, it seems to suddenly be working. *shrug* WOOOO i finally am playing

Dont forget to write down the scores if you play through the campaign...the game doesnt do this unfortunately. Theres a score table on this forum...let us know how you get on.

  I had mouse flickering when I changed one of the graphics options.  So now I leave it on the default (which is something like "hardware acceleration off").
