Monitor keeps changing resolution each time a video plays Angry
Hey guys,
My WinXP desktop resolution is 1024x768. Now in T2, each time a cutscene/video plays (eg. victory, the intro ) my monitor changes resolution to 800x600 (i think), then back to 1024x768 after the video ended. I don't like putting strain on my monitor more than I have to, and this reso switching is really stupid. Is there a fix for it? I've tried playing in Windowed mode but T2 crashed when I moved my mouse to scroll the game window.

TIA

I'm sorry, but I don't understand how this puts a strain on your monitor.

Also, I'm not sure that the resolution actually changes.

It definitely changed from 1024x768, the monitor here has "800x600" (or whatever reso) displayed on the OSD each time it changes.
Out of all the 60+ pc games here, T2 and Settlers IV are the only culprits.
My mon is 8 years old, 21" CRT ... I do not understand why it needs to change res, when 99% of other PC games don't.
The mon here is 8 years old btw, 21" Sony CRT ...

Sorry, I'm not good with aconyms. I don't know what the OSD is.

In any case, all I can suggest is to look at your settings [click the ship's wheel next to the speed settings; then click the top bar on the pop-up].

You may discover that changing something there will solve your problem.

I too don't think it puts much of a strain on your monitor...contact the monitor manufacturer to find out more.

Use a monitor with DVI connection (not the analog/dsub) .. usually LCD monitors
My ATI graphics card drivers allowed me to set it so that if a game uses resolution less than the native res of your screen, it will put black borders around the image, rather than zooming/resizing every time.
I think most recent graphics card drivers allow you to do this. My card is an ATI 4870.

SOLVED.
