I remember in Tropico 1 there were several unwritten rules about how much you should have done by a certain date in the game. Things like "have a high school built and running within 10 years" or "have everyone housed in 7" stuff like that. Well being that Pirates cove is also a tropico game, I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for time frames for that. Mainly

"How much time should I take before I have my first ship outfitted with cutlasses so I can do my first real cruise mission"

"How long should I wait until I build a church for my captives"

"How long can I put off building pirate houseing?"

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

How many environmentalists does it take to change a lightbulb? None, they're all outside protesting the power plant.

How many teamsters does it take to change a lightbulb: 1, but it'll never get done. There are 38.4 units of lightbulbs piled up at the factory and nobody is doing a dadgumed thing with them.

Yeah, Tropico definitely had time frames for things, and I think Tropico 2 does as well, though I haven't played it continueously like I could with Tropico so I don't know of any specific timeframes.

But from what I have played, I've noticed these.

1) I can't get a ship cruising with cutlasses before the second year.  It's just impossible. My play style involves building a stable town first. I use my starting 20 wood to build a second sawmill (unless there is no sea ration factory, then that is first). I then build other things. By the time I get enough iron prcessed and made into cutlassess, it's well past my second anniversary.

I someitmes build a blackmarket and just buy the cutlsasses until production allows me to make them.

2) For churches, I've waited until late game. My last game, I waited until the religion satisfaction was at 11% (which caused my first captive to try to break free). I then quickly plopped down two churches and never had a problem with captives. But generally, I wait at least 5 or 6 years.

3) Pirate housing I put off for at least the first two years. Then I plop them down every so often.

In general, I keep steady track of overall pirate and captive happiness. Right clicking on the overall happiuness meters brings up the journal, which rates the highest and lowest satisfaction categories. I use this to determine what I should build or if I need more of them.

Does anyone else get crusiing before the second anniversary? IF so, how the heck do you do it?
