In the current sandbox I am losing captives to starvation at a rather alarming rate. I have six functioning corn farms and 10 food shacks for 125 captives.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Sea Dog

I had that problem too. Once they start starving it takes about 2 or 3 months for the chuc tents to start producing enough grub to affect the starvation problem. Make sure you have haulers at all of them, and place the chuc tents so that they aren't  to far from their work area's or they'll starve before they get to it. Hope this help's you out.

How many other corn requiring buildigns do you have? aka, how many sea ration plants and breweries?

6 farms may not be enough if you have alot of the other two as well.

Wow, that would seem like more than enough food/distribution capacity.

Just to give you an idea, I've got an island of 150 captives right now, with 5 corn farms, 3 chuck tents, and 1 ea brewery and sea rations factory.  The chuck tents are maybe 2/3rds full of people at any given point, the brewery has plenty of beer in stock, and most of the farms have extra corn waiting to be hauled away. Only the sea ration factory is low on corn because the hauler can't keep up (I need to build a second factory.)

So here are possible reasons for your problem:
1) did you check to make sure your chuck tents have haulers?  (Stupid question, but just in case...)
2) are the farms really, really far from the tents? And/or are your brewery/rations factory very close to the farms? Sometimes the nearby haulers can monopolize the output from the farms because they can make 2-3 trips before the far away haulers can make even 1 trip...
3) did you build most of these tents recently, i.e. after people started dropping dead from starvation? If your whole captive population has begun to starve, then it seems to take longer for people to eat and restore their levels.

Whoops, I wish I'd read Cap'n Bligh's post first... not only did he say pretty much everything that I did, but he did it in half as much space.   Wink

And, egads, talk about bringing a dead thread back to life.

I had that problem, and i decided to free the French captives... so I could have some time to recover the food level...

With that I solved the problem Cheesy
