I don't think they can UNKLE, I think animals and people walk over/through them.

They walk right over them most of the time. Generally the road will tend to be better used if ornamentation alongsie... more traffic.... but not an absolute.

A line of bushes will not stop an animal or tropican from crossing a line. If it is on a green square, a cow or goat might even eat the bushes (same thing with trees). While it does slow them down, it does not pose any barrier to travel.

I tend to use bunkhouses as makeshift walls, ensuring I set the rent to maximum and reducing the quality of maintainence. A nice long line of em' and you'll have those pesky Tropicans off your nice lawn in no time.

I don't care that much if people are walking over the lawn... And it IS confirmed that ranches have an invisible 14x14? 16x16? fence. The cows still walk out of it sometimes, but they tend to keep within htat limit.

Tropicans like to explore! Why stop them? The only other time I see them out far distances away from the city, is when they're looking for snake oil potions, or rocks to eat.

BrodyKoga is correct. I made a small garden once with some of the blue plants, and a large group of cows came along and ate them Can woodcutters cut down trees you plant?

Speaking of Ranches & Roads, will cows and goats use roads?

i think goats and cows tend to stay away from the city and its pollution and because the grass in citys is either dead or pulluted to much to eat

I was testing fences today, and I discovered 4 layers of closely packed, thick trees can stopper movement in and out of the palace. So there is a fence!
However, sometimes the Tropicans find narrow paths through the trees, so you have to keep ordering the Construction workers to fill in the gaps with more trees...

By using the Vegetation tool of the Editor, it may be possible quickly to make short stretches of very dense trees and undergrowth which can "discourage" the pathfinding algorithm so as to "guide" units toward roads. The technique needs to be practiced and perfected.
Of course, this is for use in developing a map for a scripted scenario; not for use during the course of gameplay.
Otherwise, vegetative "fences" constructed during gameplay have very little practical effect.
