I am struggling to understand what the hell tropicans are doing to multiply their money.  Let's say that average tropican on my island earn $12 monthly.  He will not spend more that $4 on apartment, and more that $12 on entertainment.  However when he spends $4 each month on housing he got no more that $8 left for fun, and he is still sitting drunk in the bar.
Can the tropicans use the sites for turists, like beach site, or spa?
Will adding more hospitals/clinics improve health of my people?
Is there any way to speed up the lazy bums in the docks?  Will adding more docks next to each other speed up the things are getting load up into the ship?

Maybe the bum is running up a tab in expectation of future raises!
Hospitals and clinics will improve health but only if there are doctors employed.
You can't speed up the dockworkers, bu tyou can try to keep them close to the dock. Place their housing, food and entertainment close by. It may help some.
Having multiple docks may result in having your goods piling up in multiple places. The docks are useless if you can't keep the workers on the job.

Has anyone experimented to see if the pub revenues match the "theoretical" beer allowance of the customers? That is, if the pub cover charge is $12 and one of Prezy's gang walks in with a theoretical $8 to spend, does the pub show $12 or $8 in revenues?

If the revenue is $8 I guess it means that the $12 cover charge just sets what "social class" of Tropicans are allowed in, regardless of what they actually spend. On the other hand, if the workers are able to spend more than they actually earn, we may have a something-for-nothing money machine  Grin

Your Tropicans will ignore any entertainment venue that has a fee that is more than their monthly wage. Since they are willing to spend one third of that wage on rent, there does seem to be some discrepancy in the financial model. Unless they don't go for entertainment monthly. But we know they must because they're always at the pub! Grin

The Tropican is most likely married, I've noticed it myself.  When two Tropicans get married, they effectively pool their money.  What you dont see is BOTH of them getting drunk.
Oops, edited this in...
Maybe the financial model is actually BETTER...
You know, they might not lose their salary at the end of the month, thus being able to 'save up' for expensive entertainment...

Tropicans don't go to the bar every single month. Maybe they go to the bar more like once or twice a year. If a Tropican makes $12 a month, and spends $4 a month on rent, and spends $12 twice a year on bars and restaurants, his cash flow is 144 - (48 + 24), he isn't going into debt to pay his rent and buy beer. In fact, he has $72 left over. My guess is that the extra money goes into buying imports. Tropico probably doesn't make many consumer goods like radios or toothbrushes or light bulbs or any of those other little amenities. It makes export commodities. This explains why tropicans are happier about getting a $12 salary, paying $4 in rent, and getting charged $12 at bars than getting a $6 salary, paying $2 in rent, and getting charged $6 in bars (in Tropico's case, a "dollar" has some form of fixed, international purchasing power). Also, it says in the manual that Tropico is import dependent, so it must get dollars from exports.

At least, that's my take on Tropican finances. Unless a Tropican goes to an entertainment place eight months a year, (s)he shouldn't have any trouble paying.

Then again, I rarely have any idea what I'm talking about.

Those Tropicans are spending an unhealthy amount of time in church. I timed Ruben Gonzalez. He went in December the second. He came out on Boxing Day Shocked (Thats December 26th)
Oh well, at least they're not wasting their pesos.... Grin Grin Grin

The previous answers were not very good. Only one pointed out that entertainment visits are not monthly.

1} I am struggling to understand [Tropican's personal finance].  ...
2} Can the tropicans use the sites for tourists, like beach site, or spa?
3} Will adding more hospitals/clinics improve health of my people?
4} Is there any way to speed up the lazy bums in the docks?
5} Will adding more docks next to each other speed up the things getting load up into the ship?

#1 = The game design does not contemplate personal, pocket change accounts for each person. Trying to balance Jose's personal money is overthinking details which don't exist. The player has more important things to worry about.

#2 = Some entertainment buildings are for joint use by Tropicans and Tourists; others are used by only Tourists. They are in separate groups on the building menu.

#3 = More than how many? Health care is a need which must be met to maintain health. Not providing it causes shortened lives; there is not poor \ good \ better health. There must be enough slots in clinics and hospitals to provide a vacant one for each tropican just as they must meet the need. The player has to learn that number through practice; there is no formula because of variables such as travel time.

#4 = Maximize the time they spend on the job as opposed to sleeping (quality of housing), getting food, satisfying needs for entertainment \ religion \ health care - including walking to and from the other buildings. That's what the player has to learn from gameplay.

#5 = Jamming Ports (docks) too close together not only does nothing to speed up loading goods on ships, but also causes the ships to interfere with each other introducing more delays. When the goods are delivered, it is to one port only - not a group of ports; and only the workers employed at that building will load them.
