I have been reading several messages from people who bought the game from Sam's Club, myself included.  So I wanted to start a discussion on the problems people are having with the purchase and possible fixes.  The problems I am aware of are
1.  There was no manual included in the box.
2.  The patch does not work with the game.

These 2 problems seem to be exclusive to the games bought from Sam's Club.

I got an e-mail from Take 2 that told me to contact customer service for a replacement manual.  I sent a reply back asking for one so we will see what happens.  The next step is seeing if I can get the patch to work so if anyone out there has, please let us know!!!

I have an update on getting the manual.  Customer service sent me an address to send 5 bucks to get a manual.  Here is the email I sent the request to customer service [customerservice@gathering.com].  So if you need a manual, send them a line.

the cd however is not copyrighted and the game can be played without even having the cd.. if you apply the patch it wants the copyright that is why it doesnt work
>:(Well that stinks!!!!  So what are the rest of us supposed to do? Huh  Short of buying another game somewhere else?  Huh

I returned the game and the sam's club peep didnt want to until i proved the none of the copies they had the manual.. so they gave my money back.. then went and bought it at eb.. bestbuy didnt have it.. the box was different it was smaller than the sam's club version and the cd jewel was a single instead of a dual jewel case.. but the one i bought works like a charm.. hope you all can goto sam's club to return it.. just explain the manual never was included and they can check the ones they have to verify.

Grin  I'm so glad that worked out for you.  Unfortunately  taking it back to Sam's Club won't work for me because I threw out the box.  So I'm kinda stuck with this copy.  (And, I imagine, so are some other folks which is why I started this thread)  So for those of us out here that can't return our copy, are there any fixes to get the patch working.

Do you still have the receipt? Proof of purchase?
If you do, would it matter if you don't have the box? The goods are faulty.

I don't know any fixes. Undecided

Ah - you're absolutley right CK. I don't know Sam's Club at all. But if I ever see one I think I'll avoid it. Smiley

I have purchased alot of games from sam's club so really this was the only bad time I had and even tho i had to force my refund i would buy again.

As to the fix I never suggest cracks(I am totally against piracy). but if you have the game i would just get the cd crack. But maybe some deal can be worked out with the publisher.. i just gave up due to the fact its easier to return it and get a new one from EB.

Oh yeah the only other thing i noticed was with the sam's club version no picture showed up prior to loading the game.. but with the EB version the game shows a tiny tropico pirate screen before loading the game i would think this is where it checks the copyprotection.

Why a company would sell a game at sam's club without copy protection is beyond me
