Privateers, not Pirates

I am one of those poor souls who bought my game at Sam's with no manual, so I have been struggling along as best I can.  I am also new to this style of game.  I do intend to download the manual from one of those web-sites but in the meantime...please help me!  I have been stuck on Privateers, not Pirates for some time now.  I just can't seem to get my pirate happiness up to the level I need to win the scenario.  I get my sloop built and can keep the pirates happy at about 60%.  I build an extra lumber yard, about 4 to 5 Smugglers Dives, 5 to 6 Gamblers Dens, 10 to 12 Wench and Masseuse houses.  All of these are various levels with the most being for 1-3 ranks.  I even kidnapp a skilled cook and several skilled wenches.  I also start throwing up some cannons after a while.  I do not put much anarchy icons out though.  What do these guys want???  Thanks

Your pirate happiness doesn't need to get much higher. 63% will do it. There are several things to try and get the happiness higher.

Your pirate entertainment places will also do better increasing pirate happiness if you keep them supplied with beer, bananas, etc. So be sure to have banana and papaya farms and a brewery and corn farms. Also, I believe setting the level from 1-3 up to 3-5 will provide better service (I have never figured out how much).

The easiest (if you have the money) is to throw a pirate festival and/or give them free beer. This will boost the pirate happiness temporarily. You can do this for a few months in a row (once each month) to get even more of a bonus.

You should be able to get through this with these tips. Do not feel bad about having trouble with this one. The games where pirate happiness is a factor to winning have been the hardest ones for me. This is one of only two missions in the campaign where I have not been able to get gold.
