During a sandbox game running 100 years to observe the forestry replacement mechanics I noticed really old people.

A 126 year old wench providing services to a 130+ something Henry Morgan. Kiss

Death through natural causes/old age could add a new dimension - even on the long 30 year games.  Would have been more realistic to have a random maximum age calculated for each individual and kept hidden. A formula something like 50 + 5D10. Wealthy captive investments at risk, key persons like Captains are lost....

I notice a posting on Tropico1 that showed people died off. 101 age being the highest age posted in that thread.  Suggests to me that the original had an age related mechanic - wonder why it was removed for T2

Last Played Tropico2 in Oct2004...after 9 months of playing it.  Not bad value for a £10 purchase.

T2 is not based on Tropico's game code so there was no issue of removal.

We didn't worry about old age because we really didn't think the game's time scale required it. 30 year games were about the maximum we thought would be fun to play on the same island. After that time the island tends to be fully developed.

Poor developers. They expected the players to be somewhat rational. Little did they know that some of them would want to run the same island for a thousand years game time or two years real time which ever comes first.
