This indicates to me that T2 uses quite different logic from T1 concerning productivity for
"indoor" work -- although T1 may not be uniform about indoor work. At least in the T1 factory buildings when the worker is actually present, the rate of production increases - per tests.
I suspect the developers never expected such a level of micro-management. It seems a key caution that at certain points a change in avatar must occur before the next step.
Personally, I find this exploitation to be nearly a cheat. I wonder if the rate of production varies between present in building and not present in building. Severous doesn't seem to mention that - at least here.
