Good luck with repelling the invasion. No luck involved, it's all skill. Hey! I think I just identified my problem Actually, my problem with this scenario falls under the "Fails to read instructions" catagory. After I took your advice and printed out the TJPointsSystemInfo.txt file and looked at it closely it's pretty obvious that trying to hoard $600,000 or plunder 600 warships is not the key to success. Sure wish I'd done this at the beginning instead of half way through. Oh well. this makes getting the Gold a real challenge. Let's see, staving off 4 invasions should do it.

Yikes! My plan to win by staving off invasions took a very nasty turn. I built 6 forts, raised the black flag, opened the pirates cove to France and dared them to come get me. Bad mistake. I remember now that as time passes their navies get stronger so the question now is how many forts must I have to survive and do I have enough time to build them in less than two years? Aaarrrggghh.

Success! Raised the Black Flag and dared France to come get me. I blew their fleet out of the water and picked up my Gold in May 1715 I won't spoil things by telling how many forts I had but it was obviously more than 6. Now comes the post win depression from having no new worlds to conquer Guess I'll use all my new knowledge to try for a Gold in the Blue Parrot scenario.

Yay! Well done on the Gold SeaScourge. There's at least two ways to get gold in this scenario then.

In summary, I would advise anyone starting Shipwrecked for the first time to print out the TJPointsSystemInfo.txt file and study it closely. Hint: relying on cruising to get 600 points is not a good idea.
This scenario is by far my favorite. You have a full 20 years to get the Gold and a large island with plenty of resources to develop and time to educate your pirates. There are at least two strategies that will get a gold medal and I'd like to hear how other people did it.

Hope you get the problem solved - it's a great scenario.

Hi Susan
Welcome to the forum. Hope you get past the problem and pop in from time to time.
Whilst you problem looks technical I suggest two other approaches to try:
- Try lowering the settings you are playing at. It helped me when my computer seemed to struggle as the island got bigger populations. Glitch in the graphics. Ship graphic not supportted at the screen resolution you are playing at??
- or try a personal message to TJ who wrote the scenario.
Good luck

TJ,
Thanks for the amazing scenario and all the hard work that must have gone into creating it. Not only do I enjoy playing it, but I use this and all your other scenarios to teach myself scripting.
One scripting question.
Do you know of a way to start or modify a Captain's or pirate's gold?
Once again, thanks.

CW3BMB,
I cannot think of a way to do this. The only possibility was the issue_edict action to issue the donate edict but in the description for the action the donate edict is not shown so I don't know how it would know what pirate to donate to.

I have come back to playing Tropico 2 after a long time and stumbled over this nice scenario. I hope someone still reads here and can answer my question... This scenario seems to start without a shipbuilder (I don't think I had one which died, as I got no such message), so I wonder how I should get my first ship? I remember a rule being added in a patch that the program automatically gives a shipbuilder (maybe for Gold), if you lose your last one without having a ship, but that somehow doesn't happen, even after I sold my wealthy captives. I have already built a dock, even a blackmarket...hoping to get either a shipbuilder or a ship...but nothing. Since this is a heaviliy scripted scenario, is there some action required to get things going?
Thanks in advance (and sorry for raising dust, I know it is an old thread, but really would like to give this scenario a try)

... This scenario seems to start without a shipbuilder (I don't think I had one which died, as I got no such message), so I wonder how I should get my first ship? ... After a very long pause -- If you have no ships and no shipwrights, a shipwright is generated on the island. At least that is way it is supposed to work. Check the island log after this happens and see if a new shipwright appears. Oct 24, 2003 From Charlemagne aka Bill Speith from Frog City. http://tropico.strategyplanet.gamespy.com/cafe/index.php?topic=7913.msg172910#msg172910I'm afraid that is the best I can do. I hope it helps.
I am compiling (or trying to) a list of the user published scenarios for T2. I noticed Severous mentioned this point. I finally was able to search it out.
