Despite my appearance above, I'm really a hatter.

Any way to prevent "pirate juggling?"

That is, when you've just created that new frigate (The Glinting Pearl) and she's just pulled up to that dock where the skeletons are hauling sea rations, the newly recruited Long John Silver is ready to take command....and then there's that frantic juggling of landlubbers and officers and sailors from other ships as the personnel across the whole entire fleet readjusts?  Leaving you with your carefully trained swordsman from the galleon jumbled up over there on that sloop with the carefully trained marksman on the brigantine?

I realize that you can do creative hiring and firing afterwards, but is there any way to make the current ships' crews "stay put," and have the newly moored ship just pull from the landlubbers and homeless and unemployed?

Just got back into this game after hearing a bunch about "International Talk-Like-a-Pirate Day," and remembering how fun it was/is...

Arrr,  that situation where some of your carefully planned crew goes to the new ship and pathetic pirates promote themselves to officer...

Block all the crew vacancies on the new ship before it docks;  actually blocking only the captain slot is sufficient.

When your other ships have some of their crew off ship,  sound their boarding calls - any mission will do,  you will cancel the boarding call before they sail.  In this state,  none of their crew will juggle about when you clear the slots on the new ship.  Set the game speed to slow while you crew the new ship,  and check that none of the other ships are about to get all crew on board and set sail.

When the new ship has the desired crew,  cancel the boarding calls on the other ships.  All crew will stay with their current ships.

While ships have their boarding call sounded,  you can still fire crew from them.  The empty slot won't be filled until the boarding call is cancelled.

Great Advice!

Clever Duck's excellent system for controlling the crewing of several ships.

And -- Clever Duck's T2 pages are still (as of today) available at:
