I need some advice on what to pay the professions for wages. How much do you pay uneducated people, educated people, college educated, police and military? I need some rough ideas generally.

To start off with, I use the default setting of 5,10,and 20. After a year or two when crops begin to cash in, I change to 8,12,and 20.After about five years, I use 10, 15, and 20.After I have a real strong economy, I use 10, 15, and 22.I hardly ever pay anyone in the military or any profession more than everyone else of the same education unless there is a real problem of keeping them on the island.

I start the uneducated at 1 coin over carib. avg. High school grads 5 more, college grads even 5 more. Increase as carib. avg catches up. This starts em out at 7-8, 12-13, 17 to 18. Pay military a couple more than their class.

Most of the time my people are happy with the wages that they get. uneducated- a minimum of $8. high school- a minimum of $14 college- a minimum of $19
I raise the wages by $1-$2 every election year. Because my tourism industry is a little far from housing, I give them a minimum of $10

I like to pay my people in multiples of 3. Then I set rents to exactly 1/3 of what the people can afford.
I start uneducated at 6, high school at 12, and college at 21. At every election I boost pay by 3 at all levels.
I pay soldiers and generals 3 more than other people at their education level. This is necessary to keep them from "rumbling" about a coup.
Sometimes I boost pay for doctors or priests because it is hard to keep these people.
To encourage people to come out and work at a remote building you might want to give an extra 1 or 2 as an incentive.

Excellent advice by Blackrook-- here's my chart: First 16 years- Uned=$5, HS=$10, Col=$20 1968-1980- Uned=$10, HS=20, Col=$30-40 1980+- Uned=$15, HS=25, Col=$40-45
All of this, of course, depends on the current situation.

The commies sure hate me, but it certainly keeps those high-level jobs full
Uneducated=9 High School=18 College=27
I just wish there were "Luxury apartments" so I could mass-house my college workers in some nice houseing

As soon as I have housing built for the uneducated, I make sure to bump their salary to $6. It makes them happy, and I get it right back in the form of a rent increase. Polinesia I like your idea about luxury apartments. They would be extremely helpful for the size challenged islands.

How about apartments that stack, creating highrises. I cant remember whose idea it was (saw it in a post) but it would certainly help w/housing beyond 700-1000 population.

I like the idea of having your wages multiples of 3, so rents can be set accordingly. I think I'll try polinesia's approach.

Revolucionario, That does fit with polinesia's plan, but you better have a good immigration office set to "no one gets out of here alive," because not many of those college folks are going to stay around too long when they're only being paid $9. Other than the obvious problems with happiness it would cause, the plan fits.

I need some advice on what to pay the professions for wages. How much do you pay uneducated people, educated people, college educated, police and military? ... First: Let's understand that they are probably more correctly called "occupations" rather than professions, but that's a nit-pick. It helps to understand the game world to know that the education levels also mean social class levels. Now the player needs to know that he needs to determine a wage distribution pattern of amounts to match his selection of El Presidente's characteristics. That selection determines which faction(s) will dominate his administration. While pay seems to dominate the happiness factor of "Job Satisfaction", the player also has to play the factions who brought him to power. Instituting a wage distribution plan of the capitalist philosophy if playing as a communist will screw-up the faction relationships. Basicly, DO NOT rely only on pay to manipulate employment. For one thing, it can lead to a quick bankruptcy.
