All of the above are good suggestions.  But just to make sure that you understand that your traits have a large impact on the factions.  For example, the religious faction doesn't like it much if you are a booze baron.

I never expect entertainment to make me high profits. I only use them for entertainment.

Hmmmm.... Most of you know my ideals...  I'd say to keep them religious people happy, but not TOO powerful, or else the'll influence my army (By the way, make sure all figures of authority, especially religious faction leaders, agree with your views.  If not, make them dissappear. Grin

how do you raise religion -- I mean I want to have papal visit but religion is too low ?? ??

Roll Eyes My -- this thread is full of misinformation.
First mistake = confusing Religious Faction Satisfaction with the overall population's Religion Happiness Factor (one of ten factors of the happiness score). Changing these two separate items takes different steps.

The edict for a Papal Visit requires having a Cathedral built plus the Religious Faction having cordial or better relations with El Presidente. As with all factions, your relationship with them relies very heavily on the Faction Leader --  you must groom and care for this indivdual in all the various ways available to you in order to change the faction level of relations. It seems to me that in the game world, the attitude of the faction supporters tends to flow down from the leader to the supporters rather than the other way around. That is why the "Bribe Edict" is so important; a bribe delivered timely to a faction leader works wonders.

Dealing with the general 'Happiness Factor' of religion is a whole different set of techniques.

On to the urban legends in the thread.

Olle_Petersson (bless his heart) covered everything including the kitchen sink and beyond.

Foolproof method of raising it one level: After you build the first church to shut up Raul, staff it with only one priest. Build only cathedrals after that. The cathedral gives a much higher religious satisfaction. I would bulldoze the church too if I could. But for some reason no matter how happy the religious folk are, if you don't have the church, Raul pesters you every 10 minutes. Will drive you nuts.

He missed the point of changing the faction and not the whole population because he was flogging one of his pet techniques. Too bad he never ground out the fine detail of the cost comparison.

... Once you have a cathedral built, you shouldn't have any problems with the religious faction.

NO problems? All that means is the player won't hear any more verbal prompts from the "advisor." Playing the game with a primary emphasis on complying with those prompts is really short-changing yourself.

Ahh, but with PI, even the ladies visit the Cabaret, so it truly is an experience that all Tropicans can enjoy. Hell, if you don't have at least two Cabarets something is missing. ...

Opps! and Opps! First, spinning off-topic on how to use the Cabaret. Second, the major patch for PI was supposed to return the Cabaret to a male only world. On the OT subject, I believe for tourists the Souvenir Shop for female shopping is paired with the Cabaret for male - well, er. There's also the Spa for the female's relaxation - handsome attendants, eh?

Be sure and [to] check the age of your dancers - last night i had one that was 53 -- (i let her finish her shift because i'm nice).

LOL In the Tropican game world, age is a sign of skill regardless of the task involved. Forty year old females (with experience as mothers) are more likely to have babies than eighteen year old brides. So it's no surprise that Tropican Showgirls are very well preserved in looks and provide a high level of satisfaction. (You nasty minded perverts!)
