yea the editor will work I just need more trees to run my 3 logging camps.

Also is there any way to make it rain in certain spots like a trainer or some kind of editor?  I cant get rain to certain spot on my island.  I have about 5 sugar farms when I built them they were green now they are dark red and I been watching clouds and it never never rains in that spot.

All you can do is raise the general rainfall. You cant direct rainfall to a specific area

  • Under your /programsfiles/tropico directory, create a new directory called "Events".
  • Under the events directory, create a folder called "MoreRain".
  • In this morerain folder create the textfile "Rain.evt" containing the following lines:
CheckFrequencyYearBegin
ExecuteOnlyOnce
GeneralEffect Addto Cloudrate 100

Excellent BRF

Now, is it correct to say that what you have suggested will increase the rain in every game one plays?

Yes! It loads the event when you startup the game and will run it with any game you play.

thanks for the replys and info

It will load when you start Tropico. No need to re-boot.

It should double the number of clouds.  You can try twiddling up the number to 200 or 300 to see what happens. Note it will only run once per game, so if you want to try a new number, you will have to restart your game from 1940.

can you explain it only happens once?

Does it mean the mass wave of clouds will come 1 time per 1 game?  Can I change it to a different setting if this is true?  THANKS brf I have noticed a big difference.   Grin

No... the script doubles the cloud settings for the whole game.... but it only runs once per game. So, if you save your game, switch the 100 to 200 and start your game from the savepoint it will not triple your clouds because the script had already run at +100. If you start a new game, it will use the +200.

Well, if you want that all fair and square, use selective harvest method (think it's the name), so loggers will plant a tree or two during chopping the woods... or find part of island with really lush vegetation... Otherways, I don't know anything usefull either that, or I didn't quite understood the base question...  Grin

Also, upgrade your lumber camp with a horticulture station as soon as it's completed. The faster replanting will help keep more trees in the area, at least for a while.

And skirt the shoals of bankruptcy!

It can be manly in insurance.
We'll up your premium semi-annually.
It's all tax deductible.
We're fairly incorruptible,
We're sailing on the wide accountancy!

As indicated in another discussion recently, the thread Tropicology: Logging, Lumber, and Furniture' addresses the implications of going with 'clear cut' vs. 'selective harvest' and the merits or otherwise of upgrading timber-related facilities.

... the script doubles the [starting] cloud settings for the whole game, but it runs only once per game. So, if you save your game, switch the 100 to 200 and start your game from the savepoint it will not triple your clouds because the script had already run at +100. If you start a new game, it will use the +200.

The original cloud \ rainfall settings were established by the "Vegetation" setting when the map was first created.  That number likely falls on a scale of 0 to 100. The 'AddTo' adjustment is a % of that number. So 100 doubles it and 200 triples it. See here for more:
http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tropico/cafe/index.php?topic=1173.0

Also be aware that more rain does not necessarily equal better. I was playing Mike Cresswell's map 'The Ancient One' which includes an offer that boosts CloudRate by 100% -- instantly the whole island was a swamp! The ground was so wet I had to feed my people pineapple because I couldn't grow corn anywhere! (On the good side, you should have seen my farms pump out sugar after that - too bad it wasn't a rum scenario.) So be careful when messing with CloudRate, small Effects can have big affects!

Also, you weather meddlers out there should be aware that changing CloudRate does not have an *immediate* effect. It changes how thick the clouds are, but the clouds still have to generate at the edge of the map, move over your island and do that rainy thing. So a change in cloud rate will take a few months before you see any effect -- and a few months more before any change in your crops' growth will become noticeable.
