What version of Windows do you run?

Here's what I do on 98 SE:

1. Hit the "Print Screen" button. On a standard keyboard it's between F12 and "Scroll Lock", just above "Insert"

2. Alt-TAB to switch programs

3. Open Paint (found in Start Menu/Programs/Accessories)

4. Use the "Paste" command, and my screenshot appears. Paint always asks if I want to resize the bitmap--I say yes.

5. Save the screenshot as a bitmap (that's the only format Paint uses.) Roll Eyes

6. Alt-TAB again, select T2, and continue playing.

7. If I want to post a screenshot, I use a photo editor to convert it to JPEG.

This should also work in ME and XP, unless the game reacts unpredictably to Alt-TAB when running on those OSs. Some games aren't happy if you do this, but Tropico and T2 both seem to handle it well.

Let me know if this works. I know Severous did a good explanation on this question, but it's faster for me to type something out than find the thread  Grin

If you use the 'save as' option you can save the file as jpg directly from Paint.

Just select the crewman or captive you want to rename and type the new name over the old. You can't change the names of captains though.

True for later versions of Windows, but not the 98 SE machine that I use for Tropico. Something worth checking for anybody following these directions.

Really, it's not as complicated as it looks. Smiley

Yes please Shorty (or anyone else). Lets see your screenshots of your proud islands, best hauls, funny comments, frustrating events.

Heres the post I did a while back.
http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~tropico/cafe/index.php?board=21;action=display;threadid=8439;start=msg177130#msg177130

If your PC has MS Paint or MSPaintbrush that and a keybaord with a button with something like screen print/print screen and you should be away.

A frustrating thing I get when posting. If I use an attahcment file name that has already been used.  The posting fails and you loose all the text.  So have to start again. I try to remember to copy my text prior to posting just in case.

CC could have also described where the results of the Print Screen key go without the drill of using Paint.

According to Weeds' handy-dandy Cheat Codes & Hotkeys reference sheet for T1, the result of the PrintScreen key is saved as SH*.PCX in your Tropico directory. With that information in hand (head), one may take a series of "screenshots" and later use a graphics editor, such as Paint Shop Pro (not to be confused with Paint), to crop the pictures and change the file type to .jpg or .gif so they may be posted.

There seems to be some question about Paint or Paintbrush doing the job on changing the file type. That's beyond me.

CK.  you contribute so much to this forum.  If I can help on the pictures front then its a few minutes went spent.

Ive created this screenshot.  In MSPaintbrush ive pasted the screenshot taken on the 'PrtScreen' button.  Then ive selected 'file', 'save as' and finally selected the type of file I want to save it as.  In this case .png which seens a very efficient high quality way of saving pictures.
