I noticed some people were having trouble with their game no longer reading the CD after they had installed the Patch and wondered if this had ever been resolved, because I am having the same trouble. It runs fine if I dont install the patch and I purchased a perfectly legal copy from EBgames. I also ran into several problems while installing, but managed to work around them eventually. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Commissar

Welcome.

Sorry to see another person joining the board with a first post being about a problem.  Perhaps thats inevitable for a game forum - many new players going looking for  - and finding - this site in order to seek community assistance for a problem on a newly purchased game.

Sadly its a difficult one to help with.  I sense two camps -a) no problems and b) never solved.   I hardly remember my own install which was followed shortly after by the patch 1.2.  I dont recall problems.  At the time I had a fairly new computer with no previous version of Tropico (Trop1 nor Trop2 demo) anywhere near the system to confuse installation.

Yet as you say -  other posters have not been so fortunate.

Maybe a complete uninstall and start again ? But I really cant talk from experience Im afraid.

If anyone is reading this and has recently got past this type of problem please please post......

Last Played Tropico2 in Oct2004...after 9 months of playing it.  Not bad value for a £10 purchase.

I have this same problem Sad

I had a bear of a time getting the game to actually install and run (had to copy all of the files from cd1 to my hd but i had to install cd2 from the disk or the installation hungup at 100% during the readme file...

if i dont patch it the game runs fine ....

what makes this patch issue very strange is that i dont even need to have the cd in my machine to play the unpatched game (does the game even need the cd to run??)

Yeah... same problem here.  Angry I had purchased the game some time back in December or January from Sams Club in Michigan. I had never played the demo, so it wasn't the problem. Its the same problem as everyone elses and still no new patch or help on their boards.

I know this is an old topic but check out "help me out, will ya, please" by Tarther. I found out some stuff about Canadian discs through this site and a couple of others that I posted there today. C-Ya. Smiley Wink Grin
