You may recall my post on hauler convoys. Multiple haulers assigned to bring goods to one building.http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~tropico/cafe/index.php?board=19;action=display;threadid=8151
You can do the same with woodcutters. (and farmers?)
I have 9 woodcutters working at this timber camp.
As soon as he leaves the camp to go cut wood - fire him...into a sawmill job would be ideal...and fill his woodcutter slot with another nearby woodcutter. Repeat the process until all your able bodied men are employed.
As the woodcutters complete their task of cutting wood and just about to re-enter the timber camp - its time to reassign them to be woodcutters so they will again go and cut more wood. Alternatively thats an ideal time to turn the returning woodcutter into a sawmill hauler so they can immediately leave the timber camp hauling wood to the sawmill.
In this shot two of the woodcutters assigned to this timber camp are in view - the other is out of shot cutting somewhere. There are 6 other woodcutters bringing back logs to this camp (2 out of shot). Im going to be busy reassigning jobs to make this lot go out cutting rather than exit the shot and head for the 'other' job they are currently performing.
With woodcutters this has another minor benefit. Woodcutters will walk a long way to gather wood from a felled tree - rather than go cut down a nearer tree from scratch. By having many workers in one timber camp it reduces the walking to go get wood felled by another camp.
Finally...the 'high priority' = high wages paid in this shot is a temporary scam..what else
. The overseer has $8 in his pocket. Add the $12 wages he will earn at month end due to his high wage and he will have $20. Spot on to buy a housing plot costing $20..which he wont own for long
He will then be on $1pm again. I like my pirates having $0 cash....I am providing $0 fee entertainment..which will be costing $10 by the time he walks through the door. The $10 fee miracuously appears out of nowhere and adds to my treasury. http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~tropico/cafe/index.php?board=19;action=display;threadid=8148
No 'arm in this style of play if you have plenty of time to micro manage.
