A 'snow' cruised alone with just cutlass and rations. No cannons. Board em. No special bonuses.
After sinking a cargo Brig it is spotted by a pirate schooner, tries to flee, but is caught. No surpise there - my captain attempting to flee a stronger ship yet being caught by the faster schooner.
The ensuing fight resulted in no casualties on my ship, no loss of equipment, 3 cannons plundered and no scum nor captives. No scum recruits is surpising - im offering big spender wages and have no plank edicts or other traits that affect recruits. I want more pirates for my new island.
The Snow cruises on for another 10 days without further encounter before lack of rations force it to return to the island.
Its when it docked and I was attempting to turn it around immediately that I was surprised. It had sufferred 50% damage. That had to have come from the Brig or Schooner encounters - as there were no other encouters . Yet at 50% damage I would have wanted it to have returned immediately. On only 50% damage that Snow was particulary vulnarable.
Would cruising on so badly damaged be a factor that makes bigger ships like Frigates a bit more vulnerable ? Little ships run out of rations to return home to reprovision and repair...not so a Frigate that sails on in a weakened state.
