windows xp?

i love tropico...but whenever i install the demo onto my computer, it will freeze in the middle of the game. i have windows xp and want to purchase the full game, but am unsure if it will work on my computer with the system that i have.

does tropico not work for xp? is there any newer versions of the game that i can purchase that will work for xp?

I'm working Trop - Paradise Island plus all add ons very successfully on XP so I assume the problewms in the Demo
