This isn't going to be a great read craftily written and chock full of details like the AARs that others have posted. But Mr.P is working hard to revive interest in a great game, so I'm just doing my part. It's just a short note to announce that I've finally turned off Age of Empires long enough to play a complete game of Tropico!
I played an easy one, and one of the many that I hadn't tried before, to get back into it. Without doing anything too drastic, I was able to complete the task of stashing $50k in my Swiss Bank six and a half years early for the win. Smiley
The irony of choosing Peg Leg's Cove as my first game in months didn't really hit me until I started typing this. My damaged foot is getting better but I don't return to the doctor's until the end of the month. I'm hoping he keeps me off work through the end of the year. Smiley

There may be some sound medical findings behind your actions Rail' and CK's playing of the Tropico CD's may confirm this.

Sitting at your PC, music-a-playing the urge to tap the foot, thus aiding the circulation. Now, if the foot is not able to 'tap' as such for medical reasons, I would go so far as to say the urge to tap the foot or at the very least the movement of muscles in the foot, would aid recovery, even if the foot does not move itself.

Recent studies (which I, as a person who does little exercise grasped on to) is that simply thinking about exercise and using the mind to go through the exact actions of a particular exercise can provide strengthened muscle mass.

Therefore you may now all picture me sitting at my PC, thinking about bulging biceps and butt-cheek curls. Grin

Throw in an AAR and that is one cool exercise regime.

Well now seeing as I too have only got half one leg (lost the other half climbing Sucio - see below) I appreciate your feelings but the terrible thing is that with my new computer I now have space to load some extra games and maybe it'll be age of Empires again in which case Railnut I'll blame you.

On the other hand why aren't you on the RT3 forum - there's been some great scenarios posted recently!

When were you lucky enough to climb Everest belbincolne?

That must have felt like one hell of an achievment!

Well, Mr.P, I like your theory but I don't need to visualize exercise. I'm one of those fidgety types. Even when I'm sitting still I'm moving. Drives wifey crazy and burns off alot of the chocolate I eat. That said, I do agree with the benefit of visualization. I do that to practice jumping when I can't get to the airport. I think it also helps to retain teh muscle memory that was drilled in through actual practice. I do make an effort several times a day to exercise my hurt foot. It's getting better. I hope I'm able to jump again before winter sets in here. I keep thinking I could just land on the other one, but my landings aren't always soft yet.

bb, I'll take the blame if you play AoE, but not if you stop playing other games. I only started playing it because I don't have to think. I just start up a random map, collect resources and kill everything that moves. No real strategy the way I do it and barely more brain exercise than watching tv. As for RT3, I never quite got the hang of it. I didn't give it a good effort before deciding I'd rather stick with RT2 (which I also haven't played in many many months). Luckily, with my new (one year old) machine I still have 100GB of free hard drive so the games are still installed. I just have to decide to switch out a cd and sometimes that seems like too much bother. I'm fidgety but lazy.

Well RN I tried going back to RT2 after RT3 and found I couldn't remember how to play it! Once you're into it RT3 is better than RT2 in my opinion.  Also have problems with AoE in that since I really played it I've changed computers twice so I'd have to start at the beginning again and I hate the thought - when I did it on my last computer I found I couldn't win scenarios I'd thought were dead easy the first time so packed in.

Afraid Mr P I've never climbed Xomolungma - too easy. Sucio is much harder (and higher). I have done a Tropico scenario for it but there's one thing I cant get right so I've never posted it. One day I'll have another go at completing it.
